Exhibition running from 23 May - 13 June 2020 at Batley Art Gallery
Are you an artist living or working in North Kirklees? Want to be part of a new group show?
Brigantia is Creative Scene’s creative space in Dewsbury that connects artists and offers training, events, networking and arts workshops. The name is inspired by the goddess of the north - a champion of the arts and the protector of the largest tribe in Yorkshire.
For Brigantia Artists first open exhibition, we are asking artists to respond to the theme of TRIBE.
We sometimes think of tribe as a close-knit group of people who have been bound together by a place, dream or idea. It might call to mind ancestors or kindred spirits. It could mean support, partnership or connection.
Responding to this theme, we welcome submissions from artists working in any medium including, but not limited to, photography, painting, screen-printing, short pieces of creative writing, sculpture, mixed-media, video art or textiles.
We encourage applications from artists and artists groups who are at any stage in their career. This includes new artists, hobbyists, students and established artists.
We have up to five spaces in the exhibition reserved for applicants aged 16-18.
Up to 30 artworks will be selected for the show.
Selected work will be displayed in Batley Art Gallery as part of the exhibition running from 23 May to 13 June 2020.
To submit work to Brigantia Artists you must be living and/or working in North Kirklees (Dewsbury, Batley, Birstall, Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike, Mirfield and all the streets, villages and suburbs in between).
