  • The Stakeholders who are elected to hold positions on the Wilmington Neighborhood Council Governing Board will be expected to serve on one or more committees, assist in outreach to involve other stakeholders, take actions impacting our community, demonstrate a passion and commitment to our community and adhere to the WNC Code of Civility. Additionally, Ethics & Funding training are

    mandatory and must be updated accordingly. Board meeting are held on the 4th Tuesday each month.

    Please print or type a statement that expresses your interest in becoming a WNC Board Member in less than 100 words. This will also become your Candidacy Statement that will be shared with the Wilmington Stakeholders. The Candidacy Statement should include your name, qualifications and interest in the Wilmington community that expresses your desire to serve on the WNC Governing Board.

  • Please note: This Candidate Filing Form is used to fill vacancies on the WNC governing board.     In accepting the position of board member of the Wilmington Neighborhood Council, you must recognize that with this position comes a commitment to support the organization, its programs, and policies, and to do all that you can to develop and maintain high standards.

    If you accept this position you commit to certain responsibilities and guidelines. You agree to the following:

    • Learn and abide by the policies of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.
    • Complete required training in a timely manner. (Training consists of 2 hours of ethics training, funding training and a review and signature of the Code of Conduct)
    • Act as a resource in defining activities and/or issues/concerns within our council district which can respond to our stakeholders’ concern and issues.
    • Attend and participate in board/stakeholder meetings and call or email if unable to attend.
    • Attend programs and events presented by the council.
    • Review all council materials/agendas/recommendations in advance so that you can help the board make effective and educated decisions.
    • Communicate with the executive officers effectively and timely to confirm your board meeting attendance
    • Communicate and respond to emails regarding board business
    • Exhibit respectful behavior to fellow board members and stakeholders at all times.
    • Attend the annual planning session/board retreat, anniversary event and participate in the development, adoption, and implementation of the council initiatives.
    • Serve on a minimum of one committee of your choosing, or as requested by the President of the council.
    • Make an effort to recruit at least one stakeholder per year to become active in a committee.

      I agree to the foregoing responsibilities, and guidelines, failure to abide by these responsibilities may result in my removal from the board.
