  • Size Definitions

    Miniature - 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) or less

    Small - over 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) to 3 inches (8 cm)

    Medium - over 3 inches (8 cm) to 4 inches (10 cm)

    Large - over 4 inches (10 cm) to 5 inches (13 cm)

Very Large - over 5 inches (13 cm)

Important: The size below must be consistent with the measured (UNTREATED) diameter of the bloom.  For example, if a bloom diameter is 4", it could be a) Medium, b) Large or c) Medium to large.  Since blooms are rarely ever all one size, a better description would be to get a range of measurements. Examples might be

                                                   1) (3 7/8" - 4 1/8") - Medium to large

                                                  2) (3 5/8" - 3 7/8") - Medium

                                                  3) (4 1/8" - 4 1/4") - Large

  • All Dimensions Should be to the Nearest 1/8"

  • Cold Hardy Definitions

The ACS Cultivar Registration Committee has defined "Cold Hardiness" as follows:

    (A) Japonicas and Non-reticulata hybrids  [0 °F ( -18 °C)]

    (B) Reticulata hybrids [10 °F ( -12 °C)]

    (C) All Other Species [0 °F ( -18 °C)]

These are the minimum temperatures at which the plant will survive.

Plants which do not meet the above criteria are NOT considered to be "Cold Hardy".
