  • The Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) was founded in 1994 on the idea that all peoples have a basic right to a decent standard of living and quality of life.

     

    Our Mission

    To “advance the social and economic well being of low and moderate income Thais and other ethnic communities in the greater Los Angeles area, through a comprehensive community development strategy that includes human rights advocacy, affordable housing, access to healthcare, promotion of small businesses, neighborhood empowerment, and social enterprises.”

     

    About the Farmers' Market

    In October 2011, Thai CDC was awarded the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers' Market Promotion Program (FMPP) grant to start a new farmers’ market project in East Hollywood / Thai Town. On May 5, 2012, the East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market held a grand opening complete with music, dancing, speeches, and plenty of produce.

     

    Location

    The East Hollywood Certified Farmers' Market (EHCFM) operates every Monday and Thursday from 3:30pm to 7:30pm on Hollywood Blvd and Western Ave, the Metro Red Line Station Plaza. The market greets transit riders as they enter and exit the subway station which runs every 10 to 15 minutes. There are also five Metro bus lines servicing the community from this intersection.

  • Operation

    • The Market operates every Monday and Thursday from 3:30pm – 7:30pm above the Metro Red Line Plaza. We may close on rainy days. If you will be late or absent, please contact the EHCFM Market Manager.
    • The Manager is at the market at all times and can be contacted via cell phone. They have the authority to change vendor booth locations at any time for the benefit of the market.
    • EHCFM staff hosts an information booth for public benefit distribution for EBT/CalFresh.
    • Our market is a shared space with local non-profits and public benefit providers we invite to provide economic and health resources for the community.
    • Vendors must unload on the loading zone on Hollywood Blvd. Please request cones if none have been set out.
    • No on-site parking is provided for Market participants.
    • We recommend all vendors bring their own lights. Vendors must bring their own canopy weights.
    • No smoking on premises.
    • Violation of any market rule and regulation may result in a write-up and/or fine.
    • We play music from our speakers when no entertainer is scheduled.
  • Vendor Application

  • Rent, Fees, and Public Benefits Transactions

    • Depending on vendor category, vendors pay 5% (artisan), 8.5% (produce), or 10% with a $20 minimum (prepared/pre-packaged food) of their gross revenue plus $2 in load fees to the Market Manager at the end of each market day. Cash and checks are accepted. Rental charges are subject to change.
    • Every produce and food-related vendors must accept CalFresh/EBT scrip and CalFresh/EBT, WIC, and LA Care Market Match coupons to provide low-income individuals access to fresh food and produce. Vendors will be reimbursed for collected scrip and coupons at the end of the market day.
    • Every produce vendor must accept WIC Cards and FMNP Checks.
    • Independent auditors verify revenues on randomly chosen market days.

    • Seller's Permit
    • Proof of Insurance
    • And any other documents we may ask you to submit.
  • Documents to be submitted by Producers/Farmers:

    • Certified Producer's Certificate (CPC) - Your CPC must be submitted in order for us to review your application!
    • Organic Certificate OR Certified Naturally Grown - only if you have it.
    • Once your application is approved, please be prepared to submit Proof of Insurance and any other documents we may ask you to submit.
  • If approved, please be prepared to submit copies of the following documents:

    • City of Los Angeles Business License
    • Seller's Permit
    • Temporary Food Facility Permit (TFFP) AKA Health Permit
    • Certified Kitchen Certificate OR Cottage Food Permit (if needed)
    • Proof of Insurance
    • And any other documents we may ask you to submit.
  • Entertainer Application

    *Application must be thoroughly completed to be reviewed*
  • Entertainer Information

    • Entertainers may borrow our markets’ equipment (speakers, mics, canopy, etc.) Electricity is free of charge.
    • Performance duration can be as short or long as you request but must be within the timeframe of 3:30pm – 7:30pm.
    • Entertainers can accept tips.
    • It is FREE to perform at our market! We may compensate entertainers.

  • CONFIRMATION OF UNDERSTANDING & “HOLD HARMLESS” AGREEMENT

  • am a {whatType} and have read and understand all items detailed in the aforementioned East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market Rules and Regulations. I promise to adhere to these Rules and Regulations, and the following conditions:

    1. I shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Thai Community Development Center, Western/Carlton II, L.P., the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, its Board of Directors, agents, servants, employees, and volunteers from and against any and all loss, damages, liability, claims, suits, costs and expenses, whatsoever, including reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from or in any manner connected to the willful misconduct or to the passively or actively negligent acts, errors, or omissions of myself, my agents and employees, in connection with my participation in Thai CDC’s East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market and in the performance of services, work or activities under this Agreement and the Thai CDC’s East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market Rules and Regulations.

    2. I acknowledge receipt of and agree to comply with each and every rule, regulation, procedure, term and condition set forth in the Thai CDC East Hollywood Certified Farmers’ Market Rules and Regulations. In addition, my initials at the bottom of each page represent my full and complete understanding of each rule, regulation, procedure, term and condition detailed on that page.
