  • A bit about us…

    Leeds Beckett Students’ Union Advice Service is independent from Leeds Beckett University. We are here to advise you on your situation. We won’t tell you what to do or make a decision for you but we will tell you what options are available to you.

    Leeds Beckett Students’ Union Advice Service does not provide specialist wellbeing or mental health support. The University’s Out of Hours Support and Emergency Information page has resources on support services and coping with difficult feelings https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/student-information/student-wellbeing/get-urgent-support/ . If you are at immediate risk of harm, call 999.

    Response times…

    We aim to respond within 3 working days (except during Bank Holidays). If you have any deadlines you need to meet or meetings you need our advice on in order to attend them then please let us know on the next page.

    A bit about what we do with the information you give us…

    Leeds Beckett Students’ Union Advice Service is committed to providing a confidential advice and information service to all its users. Nothing you tell us will be shared with anyone else outside the service without your express permission, unless required by law, where a conflict of interest arises or in very exceptional circumstances to prevent harm to you, other people or the service.

    The data we have asked for on this form is to set up a case file where we will keep a log of all our interactions with you. We do produce anonymised statistical reports and we will use the information you provide in those reports but not the details of your case or anything that would identify you. We may also contact you to ask for feedback.

  • Housing: - Please check to see if your landlord/agent is a member of one of the following Codes:

    The Unipol Code (for shared student houses): https://www.unipol.org.uk/the-code/property-lookup/ 

    If you can see them listed then please contact Unipol via this email address with your query/concern: info@unipol.ac.uk 

    If your landlord/agent is not listed then please continue to complete this form. We will also check and if we find they are we will refer you to contact Unipol directly.

    National Code for large developments 

    This scheme is for large student housing developments (over 15 students in one building) that covers the whole UK. You can see if your property is a part of that code by searching here:https://www.nationalcode.org/Pages/Category/members-directory?Take=24

    If your property is not listed then please continue to complete this form. We will also check and if we find they are we will refer you to the above complaints process.

  • *Money Advice – Please note we are unable to advise on most money related issues. Details of who to contact is given below:

    • Fees - If you are unable to pay your tuition fees then contact the Credit Control team to discuss it with them: creditcontrol@leedsbeckett.ac.uk
    • Student funding, benefits, budgeting and signposting you to support on debt advice.- . If you have any questions relating to your finances/Student finance please contact the university Money Advice Team: https://www.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/student-information/money-advice/ 
    • Hardship Fund  - For queries regarding the Hardship Fund or other discretionary funding, please contact the Money Support Officers at studentmoney@leedsbeckett.ac.uk or call 0113 812 6701.

  • Extenuating Circumstances / Mitigation / Extension

    Leeds Beckett Students’ Union Advice Service is independent from the University, and do not administer the Mitigation & Extenuating Circumstances procedure, but they do offer advice & guidance on the process itself.

    If you have questions relating to when you will hear back about a mitigation/extention request please contact your course admin.

    You only need to contact us for advice before you submitt your mitigation/extention request if you have any questions about the procedure including what evidence to provide, your supporting statement or possible impacts on progression. 

    You do not need to contact us after you have submitted an application unless you have specific questions.

     

  • Academic Appeal

    Please note, you can only appeal AFTER your results have been confirmed by the relevant board. You will know when your marks have been published as they will be visible on Results Online. https://resultsonline.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/main/index.htm

    Please be mindful that you have 15 working days from the date when your results are officially published on Results Online to submit the completed Appeal Request Form to the University. (The day of publication counts as the first working day). https://resultsonline.leedsbeckett.ac.uk/main/index.htm

    If you are unsure whether your results have been published, please contact your course team to find out when they will be.
