What’s the minimum score required for GPA?
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 semester hours of the previous undergraduate or graduate program. For the case of a GPA lower than 3.0, the admission could be granted with probation if approved by the admission committee after reviewing your application package, but it will be reviewed case by case.
What’s the minimum test score required for GRE?
GRE is NOT required for a master’s admission.
Ph.D. applicants are required to meet a minimum GRE test score of at least 300 (verbal and quantitative).
Do I have to take the TOEFL/IELTS/PTE?
International students are required to provide a satisfactory TOEFL score of at least 79 on internet-based, an IELTS score of 6.5, or a PTE of at least 59 scores. Applicants with a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempt from the English proficiency requirement.

What official and supporting documents are required for the application?
Official application materials include a transcript and standardized test results (if applicable), you may choose to upload unofficial copies of the transcript and test results to speed up the processing time. If admitted, the graduate school will require official copies to be submitted. Other supporting materials include curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose.
I do not have a construction background, am I eligible for the program?
Masters applicants without construction background are eligible for admission if admission requirements are satisfied. You may be required to complete required CM leveling courses before the completion of the degree if lacking construction management-related knowledge through either courses or professional experience.
Ph.D. applicants are required to have at least a background in construction management, construction engineering, or related discipline and a considerable amount of work experience in the construction industry.
How long does it take to complete the graduate program?
Typically, the MSCM is designed to be completed within 1.5 - 2 years but may vary depending on the student’s progress towards completing course work, research project, or thesis for the different paths that you take. Detailed information for the three paths of our MSCM program can be found here.
The Ph.D. program can be completed within 3-5 years and may also vary depending on the student’s progress towards completing course work and dissertation milestone requirements.
How long does the admission process take?
The admission process is a two-step evaluation process involving admission into the CM program and subsequent admission into LSU. The admission process can take up to a few weeks (2-4 weeks) once your application materials are complete. The graduate school routes your application to the department where the admission committee meets for a has a quick turnaround decision if everything goes smoothly. The departmental decision goes back to the graduate school for the final decision.
Will my application be reviewed given I submitted only unofficial documents?
Yes, your application can be reviewed by the department but only when your application documents are complete (include required test scores if applicable). The graduate school reserves the right to offer provisional admission until the official transcripts are received.
What assistantship/financial aid is available?
The department offers teaching and research assistantships to on-campus graduate students as positions become available. Students may contact faculties to enquire about research assistantship positions available in their research group. Faculty members may also recommend students for fellowships when these opportunities become available. information on non-specific and administrative assistantships outside the department is listed on the Graduate School’s weekly announcement. Can a Master's applicant apply for an assistantship?
Yes, prospective traditional or on-campus applicants may be considered for teaching assistantships. However, these positions are very competitive and prioritized for doctorate students. Master's applicants can also reach to faculty members for any funded position in their research group.

How much does the MSCM degree cost?

The course carousel contains information on courses available per semester for an academic year. Students should only select courses in consultation with the advisor. The course carousel can be found on the CM MSCM page. The course carousel will also be sent to admitted students every semester.
