  • What’s the minimum score required for GPA?

    A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 semester hours of previous undergraduate or graduate program. For the case of GPA lower than 3.0, the admission could be granted with probation if approved by the admission committee after reviewing your application package, but it will be reviewed case by case.

    What’s the minimum test score required for GRE?

    GRE is NOT required for a master’s admission.

    Ph.D. applicants are required to meet a minimum GRE test score of at least 300 (verbal and quantitative).

    Do I have to take the TOEFL/IELTS/PTE?

    International students are required to provide a satisfactory TOEFL score of at least 79 on internet-based, an IELTS score of 6.5, or a PTE of at least 59 scores. Applicants with a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempt from the English proficiency requirement.

    What official and supporting documents are required for the application?

    Official application materials include a transcript and standardized test results (if applicable), you may choose to upload unofficial copies of transcript and test result to speed up the processing time. If admitted, the graduate school will require official copies to be submitted. Other supporting materials include curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose.

    I do not have a construction background, am I eligible for the program?

    Masters applicants without construction background are eligible for admission if admission requirements are satisfied. You may be required to complete required CM leveling courses before the completion of the degree if lacking construction management related knowledge through either courses or professional experience.

    Ph.D. applicants are required to have at least an academic background in construction management, construction engineering, or related discipline and a considerable amount of work experience in the construction industry.

    How long does it take to complete the graduate program?

    Typically, the MSCM is designed to be completed within 1.5 - 2 years but may vary depending on the student’s progress towards completing course work, research project, or thesis for the different paths that you take. Detailed information for three paths of the MSCM program can be found here.

    The Ph.D. program can be completed within 3-5 years and may also vary depending on the student’s progress towards completing course work and dissertation

    How long does the admission process take?

    The office of the graduate school determines eligibility for domestic and international admission. The admission process can take some few weeks (2-4 weeks) once your application materials are complete, the graduate school will route your application to the department, within the department, the admission committee usually has a quick turnaround (within a week) if everything goes smoothly, then the departmental decision goes back to the graduate school who will eventually contact you for the decision.

    What assistantship/financial aid is available?

    The department offers teaching and research assistantships to on-campus graduate students as positions become available. Faculty members may also recommend students for fellowships and stipends when these become available. Other non-specific and administrative assistantships are listed on the Graduate School’s weekly announcement.     How much does the MSCM degree cost?

    The Fee schedule lists the current cost of tuition, required fees, and other fees for graduate students. CM online masters fee bill information can also be found here. The cost of attendance lists tuition and other fees for prospective international students.

     Where can I find information on graduate courses I can register for?

    The course carousel can be found on the CM MSCM page. The course carousel contains information on courses to be taught during an academic year.
