The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reminds us that we are all connected and need to support each other. No one is safe until we are all safe. The next few weeks are going to be critical - we will need to to work together to reduce the spread of virus. Social distancing and shutdowns will be difficult, and won't affect all of us equally. But, there are many ways for us to support each other.
Cape Town Together is collective of Cape Town residents setting up a database of people who want to get involved. It is a way to stay connected so that we can make sure we are looking out for one another. The goal is to develop a database of those who want to help so we can figure out the best way to support each other.
It will be important to protect ourselves (and others) from getting infected while we do this work. There will be many different ways to get involved. If you are low-risk (young and healthy) then you can help others directly. If you are high-risk (over 60, or with other diseases like chronic lung disease or diabetes) then there will be other ways for you to assist - like phoning people to check on them, or helping with co-ordination online. No matter who you are, you have something to contribute. Sign up now, and pass on.
If you are already involved in some kind of community response, then please provide details below so we can link up and learn from each other.
