  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU HAVE LOST AN ANIMAL:

    • Contact other animal welfare organisations and report your missing animal to them as well;
    • Telephone the SPCA every day to follow up;
    • Come to the SPCA as often as possible to search our kennels personally;
    • Place an advert in the LOST column of the daily or weekly newspapers and advertise on Lost & Found groups on social media;
    • Place adverts on Shopping Centre and Veterinary Clinic community boards for more awareness;
    • Check with local Veterinarians to see if they have received any injured strays;
    • Ask the City of Cape Town’s Cleansing Department if they have collected any carcasses matching the description of your pet;
    • If your pet did not have an ID tag or microchip, please ensure you get one for any future pets.
  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU HAVE FOUND A LOST ANIMAL:

    • Phone a description of the animal to other animal welfare organisations operating in the area;
    • Notify the SAPS in the area in which the animal was found;
    • Place adverts in the FOUND column of daily or weekly newspapers circulating in the area in which the animal was found;
    • Have a Veterinarian give the animal a health check and scan the animal for a microchip;
    • Do not simply release the animal to any person claiming to be the owner – proof of ownership should be provided, for example, photos, videos, affidavit, proof of purchase/adoption, etc;
    • You do not have the legal right to keep or rehome the animal, as the animal should be taken to the animal pound.
