    Student Assistance Fund for Emergencies
  • About the S.A.F.E Fund: 
    The AAC S.A.F.E Fund will help provide resources for our currently enrolled students and assist to items related to housing, food, concern for their personal and emotional well-being and other essentials, unexpected early departures from campus, storage or shipping of belongings, technology to support remote learning, and institutional support of these efforts to stay safe and to stay creative.

    Application Process:
    Students who need emergency financial assistance may apply to S.A.F.E fund. The Emergency Fund Committee, consisting of staff members from Academic Affairs, Student Services, Financial Aid, and the Business Office, will review the submitted application and determine the appropriate funding amount.

    Funds distributed will not generally exceed $250. The committee will review all applications and will consider request in excess of $250 for unique and unusual circumstances. These funds were made possible through the generosity of Art Academy community donors. 

    The student may be requested to meet with a committee member to discuss their application and circumstances. The student may be requested to meet virtually with a committee member to discuss their application. Students currently receiving financial aid, should be aware that receiving funding from the S.A.F.E Fund may affect their future aid packages.     Funds are limited to currently enrolled students and will be capped at $750 in total.

  • Examples of expenses considered: 

    ·       Emergency housing

    ·       Food

    ·       Necessary utilities

    ·       Safety needs (changing locks)

    ·       Prescriptions and other cost related to medical or mental health care  

    ·       Replacing essential personal belongings due to fire, theft, or natural disaster

    ·       Limited travel costs related to death or illness of immediate family member

    Example of Expenses Not Covered:

    ·       Tuition and fees
    (*unless specified unusual and unanticipated circumstances)

    ·       Health insurance

    ·       Study abroad costs

    ·       Non-essential utilities

    ·       Household furniture not related to damage or theft

    ·       Parking tickets

    ·       Costs for entertainment, recreation, non-emergency travel

    ·       Travel costs for medical, mental health or social service reasons

    ·       Emergency transportation expenses

    ·       Legal counsel and fees

    ·       Other non-essential expenses

    Disbursing of Funds:
    Approved applications will have funds disbursed directly to the vendor on the student’s behalf. For emergency food, the college will issue a gift card to a local grocery store. The number of students who can be served by the Emergency Fund is subject to the availability of funds. Students are limited to one SEF application per semester.
