Just submitting this form tells us you care about the restaurant community. We appreciate your help during this crisis. As a local curator for Dining at a Distance™ in your city, in addition to having some IT skills, you have familiarity with the local restaurant scene and are able to reach out through social media channels to promote your city’s site.
Spinning the infrastructure up for the city is quite simple, however, there is some maintenance and curation that needs to be handled on a local level by you. Here's how it works:
- We will create the webpage and database for your city. You'll receive access to the database.
- Before sharing the webpage publicly, you’ll populate with some restaurant information. Add at least 15 entries - both to familiarize yourself with the process, and so that there is content once it’s live.
- You then share out the webpage to your networks, press, and influencers. People add in submissions (or you add submissions yourself). We recommend checking out local Facebook groups and Twitter threads to see where conversations are happening already - that's how we got started in Chicago.
- As submissions come in, you review them to ensure the data is complete and that there are no duplicates or weird information, and then you mark a checkbox as "Public" to make it live. You aren't required to verify the information, rather, it's just a stopgap to ensure that the data remains clean. It's super simple to do this, and we can show you how.
- As more data comes in, you may see new information for restaurants on the list. You'll need to run our "deduplication" tool to identify which data you want to keep. It's just part of just keeping the information clean.
People may send questions to you, which we'll forward to you. Depending on volume, we sometimes create custom email addresses for cities. We'll handle any press inquiries.
For context, we have been running this platform while maintaining full-time jobs, so it is manageable from a time perspective.
Note: If there has already been a request to start the initiative in your city, we'll connect you with the local curator.
If you'd like to proceed, please continue to the next page to complete the form. You can expect to receive a response in 4-5 days from the submission of your request.
