We are sorry to hear that the situation with the pet(s) in your home is not working out and that you need to rehome your pet(s). As you may know, we have a large overpopulation of pets in San Antonio and unfortunately, we cannot always find placement for those who come into our facility.   While we do everything we can in order to prevent it, euthanasia for space is a possibility once they are at our shelter.  In the best interest of your pet, we want to make sure that we have exhausted every resource in hopes that they can find a new home before coming into the shelter.
 
Here is how we can still help:  

 

Network your pet in our system   

• We can proceed with admitting your pet(s) into our database for networking purposes only in hopes to gain placement prior to scheduling the appointment. During this time, we will forward any inquiries to you to arrange an interaction with potential adopters 
• Prior to scheduling a drop off date for your pet, we will need to get the pet’s microchip information into our system.  If you do not have that number or if you are unsure if your pet is microchipped, we can check and microchip them (as needed).  Our team is available on campus by appointment Tuesday- Saturday.  Please let us know what date and times you would be available to check them or have the microchip done.  
• Our owner surrender appointments are booked several months out so we do suggest that you that attempt to rehome on your own through websites such as https://rehome.adoptapet.com , https://nextdoor.com, etc.  Adopt-A-Pet has resources to assist with responsibly rehoming your pet.
