Abbreviations Used
Some phrases have been abbreviated to fit within tables.
Notes for translation (Question 1):
The number of cells/boxes has been set for each sentence, so make sure that you do not leave any blank.
Typing Instructions:
1. If typing in Arabic,- Type all Tashkeel, except Sukoon on ـُو and ـِي and ـَا- When typing a Shaddah (ـّ), enter the Harakah (ـَـُـِ) first, and the Shaddah second- For Alif al-Wiqaayah, type a plain Alif (ا)- For Hamzat al-Wasl, type a plain Alif (for the Command Tense, include the Harakah, e.g. اُ اِ)
As this is a final assessment for the 2nd semester of the program, all students are encouraged to type their answers in Arabic. Typing may be done manually, or text may typed into the online Arabic keyboard and then pasted here.
2. If using transliteration,
Represent Harakaat as follows:
- For ـُ use u, and for ـُو use oo- For ـَ use a, and for ـَا and ـَىٰ use aa- For ـِ use i, and for ـِي use ee- For ـَوْ use aw, and for ـَيْ use ay
Represent the letter:
- ؤأء (Hamzat al-Qatʿ) as a plain apostrophe (') (please do not use an apostrophe for other than Hamzat al-Qatʿ)
- ذ (Dhāl) as dh
- ص (Ṣād) as a plain s
- ع (ʿAyn) as the number three (3)
3. Do not enter blank spaces before or after your answers, only a single space between words.
