COVID-19 - If you were diagnosed with COVID within two weeks of your appointment, please inform the salon.
If you have an allergy please inform the salon at the time of booking.
If you are under the weather, please contact the salon as soon as possible.
COVID-19 - As of April 1,2022 masks or protective coverings are optional during your service.
COVID-19 - Please do not wear gloves in the salon. Gloves offer a false sense of protection and spread more bacteria, if they are not changed constantly. We prefer you wash your hands before and during your service at least 2x.
COVID-19 - Patrons will be draped prior to their service.
COVID-19 - Air purifiers are located throughout the studio.

APPOINTMENTS

If you are new to the salon, your first appointment should be a consultation.Virtual meetings are available.
Consultation fees are applied to the first service.
You are an ACTIVE client if you have been to the salon within the past three months. If you have not been serviced within the past three months, a new consultation is required. The fee for this service is waived.
You have an appointment, if you booked a service, and received an email/text confirmation.
Services are by appointment only. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes. Out of state clients, please notify the salon if you need to make special arrangements.
Regular maintenance is key in the cultivation of your locs. Retightenings should occur every 4-6 weeks. .
We offer the following complimentary styling services with your loc retightening: Braid-outs, ponytails, fishtail, cornrows (up to two), and a pin-curl set. If you need a more intricate hairstyle, please book "Loc Style" with your service.
Shampoos are included with your retightening. You are welcome to shampoo your own hair 24 hrs prior to your appointment. Clients with dandruff should use dandruff shampoo. You will not receive a discount, but it will shave 15-30 minutes off of your service time.
*Microlock Extensions add weight and length to your hair not volume. 100% warranty on Microlock Extensions are applicable to 1.virgin hair provided by the salon and 2. hair that is not chemically treated.
OVERDUE APPOINTMENTS

Here is a formula to help schedule your next service if you are overdue: For every week beyond six weeks, book an additional 30 minutes.
HAIR COLOR
We recommend that you refrain from coloring your hair for at least one year after having your natural or extended locs established. Semi-permanents and rinses are considered hair color.
If you are a new client, please note the following : - Vibrant colors require your hair to be BLEACHED first. - Dark to light colors should be done in stages. - Color needs to be refreshed every 10 weeks. -Blonds and platinums can be retouched every THREE MONTHS.
Colors on Locs require a 3-4 hour service and 3-4x the amount of color.
MARIJUANA
If you smoke marijuana please shampoo your hair weekly and use a citrus base or apple cider vinegar shampoo to remove the odor.
To protect stylists and patrons from exposure to harmful secondhand tobacco smoke and vaping aerosols, please do not vape inside of the salon.
MICROBLADING & SMP
MICROBLADING is a cosmetic tattooing procedure that fills in thin eyebrow areas to make them look fuller. Unlike a traditional tattoo, which is permanent, the coloring from microblading may last for up to 3 years. This is because microblading uses different tools and a smaller amount of pigment.
PREPARATION : Avoid caffeine beverages or alcohol on the day of the procedure.Tinting brows before the appointment.No tanning or sunbathing for 3 days before the appointment.No waxing or plucking eyebrows within 2 days beforehand.No chemical peels and other intense facial treatments for at least 2 to 3 weeks before the procedure.Wash and style hair before the procedure, as the brows must not come into contact with water for at least 7 days.
PROCEDURE :The process involves using a hand-held microblade tool with needles. Microblading involves breaking into the epidermis layer of the skin.
AFTERCARE: Gently wash over the eyebrows with a fingertip, using antibacterial soap and water for about 10 seconds, rinsing, and then patting dry.Use a minimal amount of moisturizing ointment.Keep the brows away from water for 7–10 days, which includes not taking long showers or swimming.Avoid putting makeup on the brow area while it is actively healing to keep the area as clean as possible.Not picking at the scabs.Avoid direct sunlight or tanning for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. Don't use facial scrubs or peels for at least 4 weeks after the procedure.
BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOGRAPHS Microblading artists will photograph their work before and after the treatment for many reasons including client records, insurance purposes, and social media. Before photographs are also necessary to assess the healed results during the perfecting session. We recognize the importance of protecting our client’s privacy and edit the photos to display only the treated area.
RESULTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED Healed results will vary with each individual client. The final shape is completely your decision, and the treatment will not begin until you approve the shape. While strictly adhering to the aftercare instructions is crucial, we have no control over the healing process and make NO GUARANTEES of how the healed results will look. The average two treatments is enough to obtain a natural result, but using a pencil or powder may still be necessary to achieve your desired brow. Individuals who are looking for a more intense result, must understand that it may require additional sessions (charged accordingly).

LASER HAIR REMOVAL
The goal of laser hair removal as with any cosmetic procedure is improvement, not perfection.Clinical results may vary depending on individual factors, including medical history, skin and hair type,patient compliance with pre/post treatment instructions, and individual response to treatment
I understand there is a possibility of short-term side effects such as reddening, blistering, scabbing,temporary bruising and temporary skin discoloration of the skin in the areas treated. Blisters/scabs/crusting may occur with laser hair removal. If this occurs, contact our office immediately and keep the blistered area moist by applying Aquaphor ointment. Blisters may take 4-10 days to heal.
If you have cold sores, you may have an outbreak with laser hair removal.
I understand there is a possibility of skin discoloration such as lightening (hypopigmentation) or darkening(hyperpigmentation) on the treated area. Pigmentation changes can develop even after several treatments and may last many months. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation can be permanent but is rare.Patients with darker skin can be more prone to pigmentation change

CHANGE OF SCOPE

If you change the type of service you want after a deposit is made and the appointment is booked,you may be required to reschedule your service. The new service may require a new consultation, longer service time and/or additional fees.
GUESTS
*
We prefer you not bring guests with you. However If you need someone to accompany you to the location, they will have access to the bathroom and will be seated away from the service area.
Pets are not allowed in the salon. This includes emotional support animals as they are not classified as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
PARKING

VANITY customers can park anywhere within the lot.
TARDINESS
*
We understand that things happen. If you arrive late we will try our best to work as fast as possible. However, there is a possibility that your hair may not be completed. If this happens, you may be required to book and pay for an additional appointment. If a Stylist arrives late for your appointment, you will receive a discount for your inconvenience.
PAYMENT
*
You will be asked to reserve your appointment with a credit or debit card. If you are booking a new loc establishment, you will be asked to place a non refundable deposit of 50%.
Balances for installations can be paid in Cash, Credit Card, Debit Card and CashApp.
Gratuity/tips are accepted but are not a requirement for service. If you choose to tip your stylist, cash and electronic tips will be accepted.
New York City sales tax of 4.5% under Tax Law: Section 1212-A(a)(2) applies to haircuts, hair coloring, shampooing, permanents, and hair extensions. Long Island customers pay 4% when serviced in Long Island.
DISCOUNTS

Referrals- If you refer someone and they become a paying client, you receive $50 off of your next service.
Referrals-If you refer a Sisterlock/Microlock installation client. you receive $100 off of your next service.
Seniors over 50 will be provided with a -$50 discount code.
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
*
There are no refunds. This is inclusive of partial/full deposits and payments. If you change your mind about receiving a service, our NO REFUND policy still applies.
If you make an error, while booking, please notify us within 24 hours.
We will no longer service clients who initiate chargebacks with their credit card companies after receiving services.
If you cancel your appointment before 24 hours of the start time, we will reschedule your service and apply the payment. You have 30 days to use your salon credit.
If you cancel less than 24 hours or are a no show, your payment will be forfeited.
Payment credits will be applied to rescheduled appointments only. If you book four hours and the Stylist finishes your hair in 3.5 hours, you will not be credited 30 minutes.
FOOD & BEVERAGES

Feel free to bring food, snacks, and beverages. For consideration of others, we ask that you avoid food with a malodorous aroma. For example: foods with strong odors of fish, garlic, onion, etc.
COURTESIES
*
You should not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol before or during your service. If you consume alcohol, marijuana or any other mind altering drugs during your service, we will end your appointment and you will be required to reschedule at your expense.
Please do not record YOURSELF or STYLISTS at any time.
Please do not accept FaceTime or Personal video calls.
Please do not walk into the salon on a phone call. It disturbs the comfort of other patrons.
Please do not play videos or listen to messages on speaker phone.
If you need proof of your salon visit, we can print a receipt and stamp it.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Clients should avoid soliciting private contact information from Stylists. This includes sending Facebook friend requests, text messaging or emailing Stylists directly. Stylists can only service and communicate with clients at VANITY locations. Home visits must be approved by the salon owner.
GRIEVANCES
*
We ask that you express any service-related concern or complaint within 24 hours of receiving service. This allows us to better serve you and gives us reasonable time to determine a solution.
Double check your appointment details at the time of booking. All confirmations will come directly from our booking software. Please note that reminders are courtesies. Clients are responsible for tracking their appointments.
