Volunteers have the opportunity to select a local restaurant of their choice and coordinate delivery to an INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY with healthcare workers, first responders, or essential business workers; or an ENTIRE STAFF at a local hospital, fire or police station (or other first responder facilities), or public places of business (i.e. big box stores, local grocery or pet stores) of their choice. Volunteers are asked to include a thoughtful tip to assist both the restaurant employees AND those serving on the front lines during the COVID-19 crisis.
Church funds are available for reimbursement up to $40 to feed an individual/couple, $100 to feed a larger family or a small group, and up to $450 to feed a larger hospital staff, a team of first responders, or workers at public places of business of approximately 20-25 people. If you wish to feed a larger group and would like to request additional funds, please email Beckye Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are no strict geographical restrictions on this offer. We simply ask that you choose local restaurants, hospitals, first response facilities, and essential businesses that support your area. The volunteer is responsible for organizing the entire meal including selecting the restaurant and meal recipients, ordering, and delivering. We simply ask that you let us know of your plans to help us track funds and avoid duplication.
PLEASE CONTACT THE HOSPITAL OR FACILITY BEFORE YOU PLAN YOUR MEAL. Many require prior arrangements to be made and have guidelines that must be followed. If you plan to support a fire station, you do not necessarily have to call ahead but please deliver your meal prior to 11:30 a.m. (lunch) and 5:30 p.m. (dinner) on the day that you would like to deliver your meal (to catch them before they begin preparing their meals for that day).

Volunteers have the opportunity to purchase individually packaged snacks and goodies (cookies, chips, crackers, protein bars, granola bars, candy, chocolate (nurses love chocolate!)), place them in a basket and deliver to healthcare workers at hospitals, first responders at local fire or police stations (or other first response facilities), or workers at public places of business like big box or grocery stores.

Volunteers have the opportunity to spread joy by offering a simple expression of thoughtfulness.
Ideas include creating and placing a fun sign in the recipient's front yard, playing an instrument and/or singing a song from the sidewalk or other safe distance, or honking the horn of your car while shouting messages of love and hope.
Are you sewing masks and want to pass them along to someone in need?
Don't want to get out? Take a photo of you holding a sign and email it to the recipient! What other creative ideas do you have to share?
The St. Andrew staff will provide you and your family with the name and contact information of someone who has been signed up to receive a St. Andrew Smile, and will help you coordinate the timing of your act of love so the recipient is sure to see!
