• 2020 Massachusetts Minor Hunting License Parental Consent Form (ages 15-17)

  • In order to hunt in Massachusetts, minors 15-17 years of age must have a minor hunting license, along with any additional required permits or stamps. To purchase a license, hunters between 15–17 must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, they must either be accompanied by an adult while hunting or have a government-approved Certificate of Completion from a Basic Hunter Education Course from any jurisdiction.

Under normal circumstances, minors are required to purchase a license in person at a MassWildlife office or other vendor location and provide parental consent. During the COVID-19 State of Emergency, parents/guardians can use this electronic form to provide that consent.

By filling out the form below, the applicant:

    • Swears under the pains and penalties of perjury that the personal information provided is complete and accurate,
    • Agrees to comply with all conditions, rules, and regulations associated with the minor hunting licenses, and
    • Understands that including false information in this application is against the law.

Once submitted, MassWildlife staff will process the information and enable a minor hunting license to be purchased online through MassFishHunt. Please be patient as it may take multiple business days for processing. When online purchasing has been enabled, you will receive an email notifying you at the email address provided below.

  • HUNTING LAW FOR MINORS IN MASSACHUSETTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH M.G.L. c. 131 § 14:

Individuals under 12 years of age shall not hunt in Massachusetts.  One minor between the ages of 12 through 14 years of age, may hunt under the direct supervision of one licensed adult. They must share one firearm or bow and adhere to one bag limit. The supervising adult must have a valid Massachusetts hunting or sporting license, any required state or federal stamps, and any permits required to possess a firearm. None of these are required for the minor.  A minor 15 through 17 years of age is required to be licensed. He/she must be accompanied by an adult or have a government approved Certificate of Completion from a Basic Hunter Education Course in addition to any required state or federal stamps as well as any permits required to possess firearms, and the youth must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian to purchase the hunting license. A hunting or sporting license held in a prior year is not accepted for the purchase of a MA minor’s hunting license.

Firearms licensing in Massachusetts:  In order to hunt with most types of firearms, Massachusetts residents aged 15 and older must apply for and obtain a Massachusetts firearms license (i.e. Firearms Identification Card (FID) or a License to Carry Firearms (LTC)).
