Acne Therapy Informed Consent  

Acne therapy uses a dynamic pulse control laser with a broad spectrum blue light that treats moderate inflammatory caused by acne.  This technology destroys the most common bacteria that causes acne easily and quickly. Acne laser treatment effectively clears most moderate inflammatory acne in four to six weeks.

Is acne laser treatment safe? Acne therapy is one of the safest laser treatments available. There is no ultraviolet radiation present, thus it’s safer than sun-light. However, many traditional acne treatments have a variety of side effects. For example, topical therapies such as creams and lotions often cause redness, irritation, and peeling. Oral therapies (e.g., acutance, antibiotics) have some well-known side effects as well. Topical and oral therapies often require at least 3 months of continuous treatment; conditions usually worsen before improving.

Who can be treated with laser? Almost anyone can be treated by  as it has proven to be very effective on moderate inflammatory acne. Pregnant women and people with photosensitivity, however, should consult with our Dermatologists, before beginning a treatment plan. Each patient with a history of acne will benefit from an individualized program which may utilize multiple modalities of treatment to improve outcome and long-term results.

What happens during acned laser treatment?  A typical treatment session takes about 20 minutes. Patients sometimes feel a slightly cool sensation when the laser tip is applied to the face.  Lesion clearance is highly individual with a 60-70% clearance rate. 

How many treatments are required? Our providers can tell you about the treatment plan that is right for you. It will involve a series of treatment sessions, typically twice a week for 4 weeks. It is important to keep the appointments as they will build on each other.   By following the treatment plan prescribed for you, you will see maximum results and enjoy clearer skin.  This photodynamic therapy is often paired with an acne facial for a more effective anti-acne treatment.
There are several conditions that deem you ineligible for treatment.

I confirm that I have not taken topic or oral Accutane/Isotretinoin in the last 6 months or Retin A for the last 14 days.

I confirm that I do not have an implantable device e.g pacemaker or defibrillator.

I confirm that I do not have an active oral herpes simplex lesion.

I HEREBY AUTHORIZE Beauty Marx and its designated provider(s) to perform the treatment explained above. I release all medical staff and specific technicians from liability associated with the procedure. I certify that I am a competent adult of at least 18 years of age. I certify that I am not pregnant.

This consent form is freely and voluntarily executed and shall be binding upon my spouse, relatives, legal representatives, heirs, administrators, successors and assigns. I acknowledge that no guarantee has been given by anyone as to the results that may be obtained. Alternative methods and risks involving this treatment have been explained.

BY MY SIGNATURE BELOW, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE CONTENTS OF THIS INFORMED CONSENT FOR TREATMENT OF ACNE LESIONS AND THAT I HAVE HAD ALL MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED TO MY SATISFACTION.
