Mission Statement
The Australian Hakl el Azime Association aims to promote assistance, unity and solidarity among those living in Australia who are descended from the people of Hakl el Azime (Village), Dannieh, North Lebanon.
The objectives for which the Association has been established are:
1. To acknowledge the traditional custodians of Australia, respect the laws of this country and work always to promote its interests first where there is conflict with any Association goals.
2. To encourage unity among the people of the Village in Australia.
3. To encourage and assist in the maintenance of historical records relating to migration, ancestry and events in the history of the Village, both locally and in Lebanon.
4. To promote social and business interaction among the people of the Village.
5. To lead/assist in projects of benevolence related to events in Australia and Lebanon, financially or otherwise.
6. To assist in projects of benevolence for neighbouring Villages and Associations with whom we have existing relationships and where new relationships are made in the future, financially or otherwise.
7. To encourage spiritual growth as the basis and foundation for all activities in daily life.
8. To assist in providing a more sustainable future for the Village and its people
9. To promote a sense of belonging among the youth in Australia; To foster genuine affection and care for the home of their descendants and to teach them about their family identity and purpose in caring.
10. To honour and celebrate successes, among people from the Village (in Australia and Lebanon), in education, business, sport, health, arts and other activities.
Rules and general considerations for the formation of the Association:
1) The first 100 members will be responsible for the election of a new Executive Board of 5 persons. The Executive board will serve for a 12 month term - The number of Executive Members and terms are subject to change until such time as the Association Constitution is created and adopted.
2) The Executive Board will be elected as per the members' voting consensus. The election process is to be determined but will be a genuine democratic process with external probity audits to confirm the integrity of the process.
3) The Executive Board will fully be responsible for the management and adminstration of the Association and preside over any subcommittees created for different activities from time to time.
4) The Executive Board will be responsible for the election of overseas stakeholders and trustees where required.
5) The Executive Board has responsibility for, among other duties, maintaining the membership base and communicating the rights and obligations of members.
