Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in Downtown LA. She is the Arts Editor for the LA Weekly, and a contributor to Whitehot, Flaunt, Art & Cake, and Artillery. She studied Art History at Vassar College, writes book and catalog essays, curates and juries exhibitions, is a dedicated Instagram photographer and author of the experimental novella Zen Psychosis (2020, Griffith Moon), and speaks at galleries, schools, and cultural institutions nationally. She is a member of ArtTable and the LA Press Club, and sits on the Boards of Art Share-LA and the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art, the Advisory Council of Building Bridges Art Exchange, and the Brain Trust of Some Serious Business. 3) ENTRY FEE
There is no entry fee for VAA members. You will receive a rebate of 50% of your membership fee as a special consideration during this pandemic (April 2020-April 2021). We hope that this encourages you to stay involved with your creative interests as we watch the world around us change in unexpected ways; creativity is so very important right now! Please know that these funds are coming out of reserves built up in the past by all our volunteerism in keeping VAA going and this will NOT negatively impact our activities in any way. Please simply keep this money; if you don’t want/need it, consider donating it to your favorite organization.

Certificates will be presented.
A maximum of four (4) entries may be submitted. Artwork may be created from any media, in both 2-D and 3-D with the exception of video works. Work must not have been previously included in a VAA exhibit. A diptych or triptych is considered a single work. 2-D works must not be larger than 72".
Artists will be allowed to indicate edge, matte and frame color, but only after acceptance notification at which time communication between artist and exhibition committee charirman such will be decided upon. Edge, frame and matt color will be restricted to a limited color selection. Frame size will be 0.75". Matte size will be 4".
Three (3) image uploads are allowed for juror to view. Due to the restrictions of the platform the first image upload will only be used to represent artwork in the gallery. The first image upload will also be used in catalog.
If artist chooses, a short 15 second YouTube video clip of 3-D art work can be included in the gallery for the juror and potentially the public to view. A URL link input is included on this form. It would be made viewable by visitors to the gallery.
6) SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Titles and prices must be included on your entry form and cannot be changed after submission.
READ CLOSELY: Image filenames should be "Last Name, Entry #1, title.jpg", Last Name, Entry #2, title.jpg", etc.
Failure to name files in this way will result in disqualification.
For example, Bill Jones' first entry entitled Starry Night would look like the following (commas and all): Jones, Entry #1, Starry Night.jpg
VAA does not require a commission on sales of this exhibition. Sales are handled directly by the artist. Links to the artist email and website will be included in the exhibition.
