Students Expressing Life through Fashion (SELF) is an award-winning sewing and design Academy equipping at-risk fashion designers with affordabe, quality fashion education and sustainable resources. Created by at-risk fashion designers, SELF provides a co-working sewing + design studio, certification courses, industry placement, direct mentorship, business assistance services, and lifelong friendships.

We foster a stimulating and collaborative environment in which our diverse + talented team of creative professionals are dedicated to developing the current + next generation of leaders in art and design. At Students Expressing Life through Fashion (SELF), our designers - who could not afford traditional fashion education - are now able to harness their passion for design. 

The Interview 

We are looking for passionate, out-of-the-box fashion forward thinkers who thrive in a vibrant and entrepreneurial workplace that embraces innovation, creativity, and collaboration. Our Fashion Instructors are a vital piece of what makes SELF successful. Interviews are conducted virtually in a 2-part process following final decisions.

The Ideal Candidate 

We are seeking an experienced, reliable Part-Time Fashion Instructor to teach our community the art of sewing and design. Required experience needed is 3 or more years. Whether you are an accomplished fashion designer, seamstress, master quilter, recent fashion college graduate, or a serious hobbyist -- we have a class for you to teach!

 Skills We Are Looking For 

Students Expressing Life through Fashion (SELF) offers classes in garment construction, pattern-making, machine and hand embroidery, fashion illustration, and business of fashion. If you have a talent for anything using a needle and thread or scaling a (fashion) brand, we would love to hear from you!
