Preanesthetic testing and treatment release
Like you, our greatest concern is the well being of your pet. We are committed to the safest anesthesia for all of our patients. Problems can arise because of pre-existing liver, kidney or blood conditions that may not be detected during physical examinations. For this reason, we recommend preanesthetic testing to help provide reasonable assurance of the lowest possible risk for your pet. The information also serves as a baseline that we can refer to in years to come. For the safety of our senior pets (7+ years of age), preanesthetic testing is required within 1 month of anesthesia.
Testing:
- Senior pets (7+ year) and ill pets: complete profile includes complete blood count, full test serum chemistry health profile (17+chem), SDMA and electrolytes.
- Adult/pediatric pets (under 7 years) and well pets: preanesthetic profile includes complete blood count, serum chemistry (10 chem), SDMA and electrolytes.
*Doctor recommended/required testing will be specified on treatment plan/estimate.
