I will not purport to represent the Eviction Legal Helpline or VPLC outside of the specific volunteer duties indicated in the Eviction Legal Helpline Volunteer Manual.
I certify that I have received, read, and understood the VPLC/CARE Eviction Legal Helpline Volunteer Manual, including its Helpline Policies and its Professional and Ethical Obligations sections. I also certify that I will take all reasonable steps to follow those policies and duties, including (1) avoiding the unauthorized practice of law, (2) maintaining Helpline callers’ expectation of privacy and the confidentiality of their information, and (3) performing my Helpline duties consistent with reasonable expectations of professional competence.
I understand that Helpline supervising attorney from the Virginia Poverty Law Center has a duty to ensure that my conduct is compatible with the lawyer’s professional obligations, and I agree to communicate with the supervising attorney without delay regarding any questions about my Helpline work or potential violations of Helpline policies and duties.
