• GREEN SCHOOLS SPEAKERS BUREAU

     

    USGBC-LA has developed a Sustainability Fundamentals Speaker Presentation for elementary as well as middle and high school students that provides an overview of sustainability concepts with a focus on energy, water, waste, and more. This will be delivered by experienced volunteers from USGBC-LA’s member base of architects, engineers, contractors, and sustainability professionals who will also be asked to speak about their career path and inspiration to do this work. 

    Selected volunteers will participate in a train the trainer  session so they are prepared to deliver the core Sustainability Fundamentals presentation as well as discuss careers in the industry.

    USGBC-LA will also deliver this as webinars based on children’s age range and will record the content so that it can be available remotely at any time through USGBC-LA website.

    Volunteer Position Overview

    Contribute to the growth of the green job sector and inspire our future workforce by providing insight into the work you do, highlighting your personal experience and skillset to introduce them to the world of sustainability.

    Volunteers are expected to host at least one workshop of 90 minutes in length at schools in the Greater LA region, virtual or in-person.

    Qualifications

    • Professional knowledge, skills, degrees, credentials in  sustainability or green jobs sector
    • A genuine interest in engaging students at all levels
    • Basic presentation and public speaking skills for in person and/or virtual workshops
