  • Thank you for applying to be a foster parent for Pumpkin’s Acres. Since we don’t have a physical location and rely solely on foster homes, fostering is extremely important and allows us to continue with our rescue efforts.

    Requirements

    1.       Applicants must be 21 years of age or older

    2.       Rabbits must always be housed indoors

    3.       Applicants ideally are able to house their foster rabbit until they’re adopted

    4.       Regular communication via text, email or Facebook is necessary

    5.       Children cannot be the primary caregivers for the animals

    6.       All other rabbits in the house must be vaccinated against RHDV2

    7.       A photo of the fostering setup is to be submitted via email with the application

  • Is there a pet store nearby where you could purchase pellets, litter and hay?*

  • Our vet clinic is located in St. Catharines (100 Fourth Ave) with the emergency clinic (after hours) being in Guelph. Are you able to bring your foster rabbit to one of the vets we work with should they need medical treatment, including after hours emergency?*

  • Are you aware that rabbits cannot be left alone for over 24 hours?*

  • If you are suddenly no longer able to care for the rabbit(s) you are fostering, you agree to contact Lyla Frick at Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue and return the rabbit(s) and any borrowed belongings immediately to her care.

    Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue makes no guarantees or claims that the rabbit(s) in foster care are completely healthy and free from aggression. All rabbits are vet checked prior to being placed in a foster home but the rabbits may harbor undiagnosed illnesses, diseases or parasites, and I acknowledge that the rescue is not responsible if such ailments are transmitted to another person or animal.

  • Rabbit Foster Care Agreement

     

    1. The rabbit(s) will always have access to fresh water and hay and will be fed on the required scheduled basis.
    2. I will keep the foster rabbit(s) away from any household pets unless I receive prior approval from the rescue.
    3. I will house the foster rabbit(s) indoors at all times.
    4. If the rabbit(s) require(s) veterinary attention or shows any sign of distress or illness, or if they’re lost or injured, I will contactimmediately.
    5. A member of Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue may contact me at any time to see how the foster rabbit(s) is/are doing and may arrange a home visit to check in.
    6. Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue may remove the foster rabbit(s) at any time for veterinary care or other reasons.
    7. I will not allow the foster rabbit(s) to be removed from the premises or give them to any third-party without prior consent from Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue.
    8. The adopting of the rabbit(s) into a permanent home will be completed through Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue. I understand that I must refer anyone interested in adopting to Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue for further information.
    9. My volunteer work involves contact with different breeds and temperaments of rabbits and there is a risk that I may be scratched or bitten.
    10. I will inform the rescue immediately of any moderate to severe injury caused by a foster rabbit.
    11. Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue is not responsible or liable for any damage or injury to any person or property caused by any rabbit(s) while in foster care. 
    12. The rabbit(s) I foster for Pumpkin’s Acres Rabbit Rescue are property of the rescue and I do not own any of the foster rabbit(s) in my care. Ownership is only transferred after completing the adoption process through Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue and paying the adoption fee. Fostering does not guarantee approval for adoption.

     

    I acknowledge that I have reviewed this Foster Care Agreement and understand and accept its terms. I also accept responsibility for the rabbit(s) while in my care.
