The prospective caregiver agrees to:
Cats are to live in a private residence indoors as a companion animal ONLY.
Provide the cat with sufficient quantities of nutritious food and fresh water.
Agree to never to have the cat declawed.
Give the original caregiver visitation rights to ensure the terms of this adoption agreement are being observed.
Agree to start the adopted cat(s) in a small, secure, safe room (bedroom, bathroom, etc.) for the first week or more. Only let the cat(s) out if the safe room when they are coming to you for attention, walking around the room, and interested in what is on the other side of the safe room door.
Ensure adequate veterinary care is provided when needed and is paid for by the caregiver after adoption.
Once the adopted cat(s) has settled (2 weeks+), agree to bring the adopted cat(s) to a vet for a rabies vaccination if your township/city requires indoor cats to be vaccinated for rabies.
If the cat must be relinquished for any reason by the prospective caregiver, she/he MUST NOT turn the cat over to a humane society, shelter or person but must return the cat to the original caregiver. If the phone number and/or address for the original caregiver is no longer operative, the caregiver will make good faith effort to locate and contact the original caregiver. A full refund for a returned cat will be issued within 2 weeks of adoption, minus a $50 administrative fee.
I understand that failure to perform the foregoing agreement will constitute a breach of contract. In the event of any such breach of contract, I authorize the original caregiver to reclaim possession of the adopted cat.
