THE MARJORIE LOUGHREY (ML) ARTISTS in the SCHOOLS GRANT APPLICATION for 2026/27
  • THE MARJORIE LOUGHREY (ML) ARTISTS in the SCHOOLS GRANT APPLICATION for 2026/27

An Endowment Fund within the Ottawa Community Foundation and Sub Fund of the Education Foundation of Ottawa
  • Marjorie Loughrey was a dedicated trustee and former Chair at the Ottawa Board of Education. She believed that an education in the arts was fundamental to the emotional, intellectual, and social development of each child. The ML Endowment fund was created as a tribute to her lifelong commitment to arts education by promoting the arts in elementary schools.

Funding also comes from a dedicated fund at the Ottawa Community Foundation and the generosity of the OBE REUNION. Between 2006, the year of the first grant, and 2024, there have been 38 ML grants involving over 7,500 students.

  • Purpose of the Grant

The Marjorie Loughrey Artists in the Schools Grant is dedicated to enhancing the Ontario Elementary Arts Curriculum in Dance, Drama, Music, and/or Visual Arts. The $2,500 grant must provide students active involvement with professional artists from those four arts disciplines - either individually or in any combination. A project must focus on the students actively “doing” the arts. Workshops focused on watching performances are not considered active.

The Marjorie Loughrey Artists in the Schools Grant is open to all OCDSB schools with Elementary students (K-8), with a focus on schools with limited ability to fundraise.

Signed grant applications must be received by the EFO by 3:00 pm on Friday May 22, 2026.

    All sections are obligatory.

All questions should be directed to the Education Foundation of Ottawa: EducationFoundation@ocdsb.ca.
