Description:
La Mujer Universal (The Universal Woman) is a symbol for women across the world. It represents a woman who is strong, proud, hardworking, and wise. She is a trailblazer; one who constantly seeks opportunities to pave the way for others by advocating for things she is passionate about.

"La Mujer Universal" Scholarship is designed to assist a graduating high school, self-identifying woman who embodies these qualities on her journey to obtain a college degree. This scholarship is intended to help a woman who comes from an impoverished, low-resourced and/or historically underrepresented, marginalized community. The scholarship is available on a competitive basis.

Award:
$500 will be awarded to one applicant based on their relative need and the degree to which they represent the qualities of La Mujer Universal.

Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a self-identifying woman
- Attend a public high school in the state of Georgia
- Possess a minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students
- Matriculate at a U.S. two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
- Have demonstrated qualities of La Mujer Universal
Scholarship Terms & Conditions:
The Delta Alpha Chapter de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated at the University of Georgia will recognize only one applicant as its 2023 “La Mujer Universal” Scholarship recipient. The selected recipient must enroll in a two- or four-year accredited college, university, or a vocational/technical school for the 2023-2024 academic year. The scholarship award in the amount of $500 will be sent directly to the Bursar's Office of the recipient's respective institution. The chosen recipient must provide enrollment verification no later than September 15, 2023. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. Scholarship applications must be completed with all the required documents and must be submitted on or before the deadline of March 15, 2023. Incomplete applications will not be accepted or considered.

La Mujer Universal (The Universal Woman) is a symbol for women across the world. It represents a woman who is strong, proud, hardworking, and wise. She is a trailblazer; one who constantly seeks opportunities to pave the way for others by advocating for things she is passionate about.

With this in mind, describe a time or experience when you embodied the qualities of La Mujer Universal and advocated for something you were passionate about (e.g., a specific cause or change you desired to see). Be sure to describe how you saw yourself as a trailblazer in that experience as it relates to the cause/demand/change in which you were advocating for. If applicable, please also discuss the changes that resulted from your advocacy.
