Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery (SRAG) is seeking visual artists interested in undertaking our inaugural 4-week Artist in Residence (AiR) Program in Stanthorpe during October/November 2026. This is a paid opportunity for you to expand your creative horizons and connect with new audiences, fellow creatives, and the unique geography of the Granite Belt in Queensland.

SRAG welcomes your application to participate in this exciting program.

How to apply

Artists who are interested in undertaking a residency at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery in October and November in 2026 for a 4-week residency are asked to apply below.

In your application please supply:
- A project proposal outlining:
  - Your vision / rationale for your residency. Successful artists and creative practitioners will demonstrate a clear rationale for their stay. The residency may represent an opportunity to focus on the development of new work, research for a curatorial or creative project, or time out from work commitments to focus on artistic practice.
  - An outline of what you will provide SRAG and our creative community and how that aligns with our vision and expected outcomes.
  - An outline of specific activities you will undertake to meet the responsibilities listed above and any additional add-ons.
- Support material up to 5 examples of your work
- An Artist Statement – maximum half page - must include the conceptual rationale for your project.
- A Biography including past exhibitions which can be submitted as a written file (max half a page) or as video/audio file (maximum 2 minutes)
- 2 references / letters of recommendation from people who know the artist’s work
- Link to artist website if applicable
- Link to artist social media if applicable
- Link to additional support material if applicable.
- Public liability insurance certificate
  - Optional for application but essential for successful applicants (must be provided prior to commencement of residency)
