Personal Essay Instructions

Explain how the TRiO Student Grant Aid will assist you in successfully completing your college degree, how this award will help you to stay enrolled at Otero Junior College or transfer, how it will help you reduce your unmet financial need to attend OJC, and how it helps reduce your need for student loans. Your essay must be between 300-350 words, typed, doubled spaced. Please email your essay to Todd.Werner@ojc.edu.

Create an account and complete at least 1 Money 101 certificate at:

Project Success Instructions

Create an account and complete at least 1 Project Success module at:

When finished, take a screenshot of your certificate or module completion and email it to Todd.Werner@ojc.edu
Applications will be scored on the following criteria:

1.    Essay (well-written, free of errors, sincere, description of financial need)

2.    Must complete at least 1 Money 101 certificate or Project Success Module. Extra credit will be given for each additional module completed and certificate attached.

3.    Number of workshops, events and visits with TRiO advisors for the fall semester.

Guidelines for SSS Grant Aid

I understand that I am required to be active in TRiO Student Support Services to be eligible to receive this Grant Aid, as evidence by: Meeting with my SSS Advisor at least two (2) times each semester, completing one or more of the financial literacy modules, and attending at least two SSS workshops/cultural events each semester.
