EPIC is a powerful opportunity to unify incarcerated, formerly incarcerated women, and young girls impacted by the criminal justice system to work collectively on social justice causes. There are currently 1.3 million women under the supervision of the criminal justice system. The Ladies of Hope Ministries will launch our national advocacy network to transform criminal justice policies that disproportionately affect women and girls. Regional Ambassadors will be trained and then deployed throughout the country. They will network on the state and city level. Ambassadors will meet with state representatives and hold public educational events that focus on: reducing the use of supervision, eliminating the fees associated with supervision, including the use of for-profit supervision contracts, reducing or eliminating the lasting consequences of supervision and incarceration related to education, training, employment, and housing. In addition, we will work on eliminating re-arrest and re-incarceration for technical violations and developing alternative to revocation systems. EPIC will demonstrate, that these impacted women and girls are an incredible asset to our communities, and it will leverage their experience to transform a system that is overly punitive and harmful in its scope and reach. We are looking for applicants from all over the country but are also specifically targeting Arizona, Utah, Texas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin in our initial recruitment.
