As of June 1, 2020, Siffrin is charging a Tobacco Surcharge for our Health Insurance. Smokers and tobacco users of any kind will begin to pay higher insurance rates. This also includes vaping. Random nicotine tests will be performed throughout the year. While you may be tempted to lie about tobacco use in order to receive lower insurance premiums, misrepresentation of your smoking habits or tobacco use is considered insurance fraud. You will owe Siffrin back pay for the difference in premiums as well as getting charged the increased tobacco rate. If you wish to quit, many treatments are covered 100% under your Anthem insurance, ask your family physician to see what works for you.
