    • Grooming Info Start
    • Hello!

Thank you for your patience and for being willing to communicate via email. It is a lot less personal than I like for new clients, but has become necessary as the demand for the service usually fills my days from 8am-8pm. I like to set expectations in advance, so please read the information below.

      Not Your Typical Groomer

-The only Certified Feline Master Groomer in NE IN (training focused on show-quality grooming).

-I do ongoing studies and have done several mentorships with various Feline Behavior Consultants/Trainers.

-C.F.M.G. + Feline Behavior Training/Modification = a service not offered anywhere else. I work toward desensitizing your cat to the grooming process.

-9 years in business cats only, 3,000+ cats groomed, recommended by several of Fort Wayne's top vets

-I specialize in kindness and patience.

-I often work with cats that other groomers and vets don't want to or can't work with.

-I rehabilitate cats that have been traumatized by well meaning dog groomers/owners.

-I introduce cats to grooming in a way that treats them as individuals.

-I do not use muzzles or forceful handling techniques.

-1st priority returning your cat's coat to a healthy state in a low stress way.

-2nd priority aesthetically perfect grooms with social media bragging rights. Humanity over vanity. Many cats get there eventually as a relationship is built.

      Housecall Grooming

This is not an optional service. It really should be the only grooming service offered for cats and here's why:

-Grooming in a van = carriers to and from, sounds of generators, strange place, foreign smells

-Grooming is a salon = carriers, car rides, strange place, foreign smells, dogs barking, lots of extra noise from multiple dryers/workstations, cage style drying, sometimes multiple people restraining to get the job done and meet salon quotas

I bring Everything needed to groom including special low-decibel dryers, low-vibration/ low-decibel clippers, cat-safe shampoos, tools, cleaning supplies, towels, treats, toys, training tools, etc. The only thing needed from you is a place to groom your cat with an electrical outlet such as an open space in the living room, a small bathroom, or a utility room. (further instructions will be sent in a reminder email before your appointment.) I work on one cat from start to finish.

You can peek in and watch as much as you want. You will be given a hands on demonstration of the best tools and handling techniques for your individual cat's coat maintenance. Everything is cleaned up and carried out after the groom is complete. And your cat immediately gets to return to the comfort of their home.

      • First Time Mat Removal- $60 Includes Full Shave or Spot Shaving
      • First Time Pelt Removal-$100 Pelts are Mats that have grown together and cover the entire body or most of the body. These require more time to remove as they can only be shaved off in one big piece (like a turtle shell) or two or three very large pieces and are very tight to the skin.
      • First Time Lion Cut-$85 This is for a non-matted coat shaved into a full or modified lion cut. *Humanity over vanity. Perfect lines and smooth finish is not guaranteed on a first time lion cut*
      • First Time Trimming- $30 Includes trimming the potty region and/or chest region for hygiene issues
      • Nail Trim Only- $15/ 2nd cat+ $10
      • Soft Paw Nail Caps- $20/ 2nd cat+ $15 While I offer the service, most cats do not like them and will work on chewing them off within a week or two. If your cat tolerates them, they will need to be removed no more than 8 weeks after application to trim the nails and reapply a fresh set.

First-time appointments are for cat clients new to A Natural Feline Friend. They are longer appointments including extra time to properly introduce myself to your cat and help them build positive associations with me, assess their temperament & grooming needs, and discuss tips & tools you can use to minimize the need for professional grooming in the future. • Here is a brief explanation of the feline behavior consulting services and fees.

To get started, read through this email so you have an understanding of how the service works. Once you have decided that this service is for you, hit the next button to complete the New Client Intake Form. You will receive an invoice via Square for $25 (tips are appreciated, but optional). Once payment has been received we will schedule a 1/hr phone consult to discuss what steps to take to start to resolve your issue(s).

I always start clients with the easiest to implement homework. In most cases, this is sufficient to resolve the issues. However, there are some cases where more complex training needs to be implemented or where some piece of information is not being communicated well via email or phone. In these cases, a home visit may be necessary so that I am able to see the cat's body language first hand and demonstrate further training techniques.

Included in the $25 is time spent reviewing your case (usually 30 min.), the 1 hr phone consult, a summary email of all the homework steps discussed in the phone call, a follow-up email in 3 weeks to see how things are progressing, and answers to any brief questions you might have via email in the interim.

My goal is to see you and your cat succeed in a long and happy life together!

      Keys

At the Meet & Greet please have 2 sets of keys ready for me to take with me. 2 keys are best to ensure that there is always a back-up in case a key breaks, is locked inside, stolen or lost, or in the event that I am incapacitated and alternate arrangements need to be made. It has yet to be an issue, but I believe in being prepared in order to give your cats the highest care possible. • Assessment of cat’s temperament & grooming needs

      • Building a relationship with the cat

      • Discussing tips & tools you can use to minimize the need for professional grooming in the future.

A reduced price list for future appointments will be provided after the initial assessment of the cat’s temperament and grooming needs.

      Experiencing a financial crisis?

I don’t like to see anyone’s cat suffering from painful mats or ingrown nails. Contact me for reduced pricing or payment plan options.

    • Scheduling

Daytime, evening, and weekend appointments are available. Evenings and weekends have a higher demand and may require a longer wait for an opening.

For first-time clients, appointment times can vary from 20 min - 2 hrs depending on the cat's temperament and grooming needs. This can leave large gaps between scheduled appointments.

In order to maximize availability, please specify your flexibility with your appointment day and time. This can greatly increase my ability to fit someone in from my waiting list.

    • Informed Consent

      · We always hold the cats’ welfare as our top priority. The cat is the vulnerable component in the consultation process, as he or she cannot provide informed consent.

      · Our role is one that is beneficial to the cat and never to his or her detriment. We always seek to do no harm.

      · There is overwhelming scientific evidence that positive reinforcement is the best way to train cats. We educate clients to exercise patience and to seek to understand cats’ needs and wants, and we coach clients to communicate consistently and clearly with their cats.

      · We do not condone or endorse any treatment that is physically or mentally cruel to the cat. We will opt out of a consulting agreement rather than attempt to manage an unethical course of action.

      · We only consult with clients and cases that we have the professional competence to handle. We refer clients to competent professionals for issues that are outside of our area of expertise.

      · We only use procedures, protocols, and training tools that are empirically based and have a proven track record.

      · We always consider communications with our clients privileged and confidential. We will only break that confidentiality if an animal is dangerous or is being abused and the client cannot be dissuaded from using their current approach. We always act according to local and state laws in terms of reporting animal cruelty.

      · Clients may be asked to make changes to their routine and/or household environment to accommodate our recommendations. We recognize that the cats’ owner is responsible for his or her cats and has the right to make decisions about the cats’ professional treatment. Clients are encouraged to ask questions about all recommendations and treatment plans.

      · A Natural Feline Friend, LLC may use photos and/or videos of clients’ animals, taken by A Natural Feline Friend, LLC or its representative or provided to us by clients, for educational purposes.

      Liability Release

The Owner (owner of cat(s), client of A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, and handler of cat(s) ) agrees that Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, will not be liable for any damage or loss resulting from the failure of the cat(s) to respond to any cues or commands taught to the cat(s) by A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, or resulting from counseling and advice supplied to Owner of cat(s). Cat(s)’ behavior now and in the future is solely the responsibility of the Owner (client) of the cat(s). Should any behavior on the cat(s)’ part now or in the future result in damage to the property, Owner, or person of some third party, Owner agrees to assume full responsibility to such third party for any and all such damage, and to absolve Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, from any and all obligations to pay such damage to a third party. All cat(s)’ are trained or otherwise handled or cared for or if Owner receives instruction by Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, without any liability whatsoever on Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, for loss, damage from disease, death, running away, theft, fire, injury to persons, other cats or property by said cat/dog, or other unavoidable causes. In the event of in-home training provided by Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, whether the Owner is home or not, Owner agrees to absolve Molly Mowrey and A Natural Feline Friend, LLC, from any and all liability whatsoever for loss or damage to property. The parties voluntarily agree to submit any/all future disagreements to mediation first for possible resolution

I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the above.

    • Grooming Service Contract

    • A Natural Feline Friend, LLC (“NFF”) holds as its obligation and responsibility:

      1. To provide the best skin and coat care for the cat, including the best grooming service products;

      2. To monitor and maintain the psychological and physical health of the cat during grooming;

      3. To support owners in achieving optimal grooming and care, to ensure the overall well-being of the cat.

    • Terms

      1. Basic Risk

Even the gentlest of grooming causes stress to an animal. The Client verifies that the animal is fit, healthy, and current on vaccinations/titer tests. Every effort will be made to minimize accidents, illness, or injuries, but there are risks inherent in the handling, restraint, grooming, bathing, blow-drying, shaving and nail trimming of cats, including the risk of serious injury or even death. NFF cannot be held liable for any illness, accident, injury, or death or any other unforeseen harm incurred at any time during the handling and grooming process. Certain illnesses and conditions including (but not limited to) diabetes, heart murmur, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, seizures, and being overweight result in a high risk of an incident during grooming. Previously discussed grooming (i.e. bathing, blow-drying, trimming, shaving, Etc.) may not be completed due to my cat's health condition. This decision is in the cat's best interest to prevent harm from coming to them. The pre-paid Royal Treatment is non-refundable and the client will be responsible for payment of any services that are provided.

      2. Health Risk

Any pre-existing medical conditions must be brought to the attention of NFF. Cats with pre-existing medical conditions will be groomed solely at the owner's risk. NFF cannot be held liable for any pre-existing medical conditions. Professional grooming may expose pre-existing health and/or skin problems for which NFF cannot be held liable. These will be brought to the attention of the owner, who will be advised to seek veterinary attention for those issues. NFF cannot be held liable for any discovered medical conditions.

      3. Elderly Risk

If the cat has reached the age of 12 and has not been examined by a veterinarian in the last 12 months, underlying disease processes may be present for which the owner is not aware, and there may be an increased risk of accident, illness, injury or death. Elderly cats are at a higher risk for nicks and cuts from shaving. NFF will make every effort to prevent hazards, but in the event of any illness, accident, injury, or death or any other unforeseen harms, NFF cannot be held liable. Any grooming that takes place on an elderly cat or cat with health problems will be at the owner's risk.

      4. Mats/Pelts

Dematting/detangling of matted hair may cause patchiness and hair loss. Consent to remove the matted hair is on this understanding. Shaving your cat will dramatically change the pet's appearance, and the hair will be very close to the skin. This may expose pre-existing skin conditions for which NFF is not responsible. Removal of mats whether by shaving or de-matting procedure can be stressful to your pet and may exacerbate stress-sensitive health problems. Severe matting and/or pelting will result in additional charges, based upon the severity of the problem and the time required to correct it.

      5. Stressed Cat

If a cat becomes very fractious or difficult to handle when approached for grooming or during grooming, or the cat cannot be safely approached, contained, or groomed, without causing undue stress for the cat and owner, and possible injury to the groomer, the groom will be stopped by NFF, and the cat will be referred to a vet for grooming under anesthesia. The pre-paid Royal Treatment is non-refundable and the client will be responsible for payment of any services that have been provided.

      6. Stressed Owner

If the owner becomes stressed or distressed by the grooming process, and requests that grooming be ceased and terminated, an Intro Groom charge of $20 plus $5 per 15 minutes of travel time round trip will be charged and the client will be responsible for payment of any services that have been provided.

      7. Photos

Photographs taken of the cat during the grooming appointment may be posted on the company’s website, social media, or other marketing material. If the cat is identified it will only be identified by the cat's name.

      8. Payment

Payment is due at the time of service.

      9. Fleas

NFF does not give flea baths as they do not actually solve the problem. When fleas are present only 5% are actually on the animal and 95% are hiding in the house. Cats must be treated with a vet-approved flea treatment and your home must be treated. Once the home and cat have been treated, a Royal Treatment can be scheduled to remove the dead fleas, eggs, larva, and flea dirt from your cat’s coat. NFF will not risk taking fleas into another client’s home. If live fleas are present, you will be charged up to $200 as subsequent appointments will have to be canceled while grooming equipment and vehicle are treated.

      10. Ringworm

Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection. If ringworm is discovered during a groom, the groom will immediately be ceased to reduce the number of spores spread and you will be charged up to $300 as subsequent appointments will have to be canceled while grooming equipment and vehicle and groomer are treated.

      11. Latchkey/Veterinary

Some cats and owners may enter into a "latchkey" arrangement with NFF, whereby the owner may not be present during grooming. If the cat has a critical medical incident during the grooming appointment, transportation of the cat to a veterinary facility with simultaneous medical attention may not be possible. The company will make every effort to contact the owner and provide transportation of the cat to the nearest appropriate veterinary clinic. In the event of unforeseen harms, NFF cannot be held liable. In the event of any injury or health concern, we are authorized as your agent to contact a vet and authorize any veterinary treatment for the cat as necessary. The owner is responsible for all veterinary charges that may incur as a result. NFF is not responsible for issues arising from veterinary care. The Client must complete the Veterinary Instructions and Release Form and a Key Release Form.

    • In order to provide the best quality service A Natural Feline Friend, LLC asks that you please have 2 sets of keys ready to pick up at the Meet & Greet. 2 keys are required to ensure that there is always a back-up in case a key breaks, is locked inside, stolen, lost or in the event that your pet sitter is incapacitated and alternate arrangements need to be made. It has yet to be an issue, but we believe in being prepared in order to give your cats the highest care possible. The keys can be kept on file (most popular as it allows us to step in during any future emergencies), or returned via certified mail or in-person (both at an additional charge). Please note that keys are preferred over garage door openers/codes in the event that there is a power outage.
