This Pen Pal Program was created to stay socially connected through stay-at-home times and to learn, and practice letter writing skills. The following are general guidelines and program policies that will help ensure a positive experience for our participants and their families.
·Participants must come up with a codename and utilize that codename throughout their participation in this program.
·Participants are to engage for 2 months, and will have a choice to continue, change, or end their Pen Pal participation by the end of the 2 months.
·Participants must handwrite their letters. Participants are encouraged to have good grammar, and legible handwriting.
·Participants must keep addresses, and all communication confidential.
·Participants must be respectful and open minded to different opinions.
·Participants need to avoid the following: flirting, any sexual content, sharing any sensitive family information (check in with your parent if you have any questions), discussions on drugs, discussion on violence, and be searching each other on Facebook or any other social media.
·Photos, drawings, and items you would like to send to your Pen Pal must be approved by your parents and/or legal guardians.
·Participants are responsible to respond within a reasonable amount of time- no one wants to feel forgotten.
·Participants should also agree on how often they would like to exchange letters. More stamps and envelops are available upon requests.
·Due to COVID 19 regulations, participants need to be mindful on others. If you are experiencing any flu symptoms, or you are concern you may have contracted COVID 19 please report to the program leader. Although there are no high concerns on COVID19 and mail, it is your responsibility to take precautions and sanitize before and after receiving mail.
