ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: REVIEW PRIOR TO APPLYING.
- We require an application, home visit, and adoption contract that outlines ownership expectations.
- Valley Dogs Rescue has a policy against placing medium/large breed puppies/dogs in rental properties. This was implemented due to the large number of dogs returned as the adoptive family's current lease was up and they were unable to find another rental that would take a large dog or specific breed.
- For homeowners, we will verify ownership with county or state records. If you are not listed on government records, we will verify you have permission to have the size/breed dogs with the owner of record.
- The home must have a secure and appropriate height fence for the perspective dog.
- All family members living in the household must be present for the meet and greet. All family members must also agree to the adoption terms.
- The applicant must be eighteen years of age or older.
- If within the first 14 days there is a health issue we may, at our discretion, pay for the animal to be seen by our approved veterinarians for necessary treatment.
- Valley Dogs Rescue does not reimburse for any cost or expense that you have incurred for the dog after the adoption process has been completed.
- We reserve the right to deny any adoption application.
Additional Expectations:
- You will keep your adopted dog on a leash or inside a fence any time it is outdoors.
- You will provide proper introduction to other animals in the household or animals met outside the household. Valley Dogs Rescue can provide assistance with this process.
- If the adoption is not working out, please contact VDR to make arrangements. Do not take the animal to another shelter, rehome or give it away.
- You are responsible for verifying city, county or state laws regarding the keeping of dogs, including the legal number of dogs allowed, licensing requirements and whether certain breeds of dog are banned or restricted in your HOA community.
I have read through the adoption requirements and would like to apply to adopt a dog.
