  • DEAR STUDENT,

    Thank you for your interest in our Pathways to Citizenship Program. This program is a comprehensive online series of classes where students use a mix of engaging, high-quality multimedia activities to acquire information about the naturalization process and skills needed for the interview.

    Requirements:

    1. You CANNOT have submitted your Form N-400 Naturalization Application or be on a waitlist for an appointment with USCIS.

    2. Must have a valid U.S. Permanent Residence Card.

    3. Valid Driver's License or State ID card.

    4. Must be 18 years or older and have resided in the United States, consecutively, for the last five years, if single or married to another non-US citizen.

    5. Must have resided in the United States for the last three years if married to a US citizen.

    6. Income tax return filed annually if the person has worked.

    7. If you have ever been arrested, cited, or detained you must bring a certified copy of the arrest and final court disposition original.

    8. Must present English Pre and Post Test.

    9. Upon meeting the program’s qualifications, a $80 Non-Refundable fee is required.

    $80 Fee Includes:

    • Citizenship Book with DVD
    • Assistance with the N-400 Application for Citizenship
    • Legal representation (G-28 form), and Citizenship classes and preparation for your interview.
    • The classes will be conducted via ZOOM. Please download and install the Zoom application.

    Once you register, our specialist will contact you and guide you about the next step.


    Mandatory: All students enrolled in our course must take a Pre-Test (English Leveling) at our office located at:

    The same day you can get your book and your materials and pay the $ 80 with a debit or credit card or Cash.

  • ATTENDANCE

    1. Program participants are required to attend an Orientation Meeting prior to the first class.

     

    2. Program participants are required to attend at least 15 of the 16 classes in the cycle in order to
    be considered “successful program completers”. Only “successful program completers” may
    access the Naturalization Application Services offered as part of the program through Legal Aid
    Services of Broward County.

     

    3. Program participants will be automatically withdrawn from the program after two absences
    regardless of reason. Participants who have been withdrawn from the program due to
    unsatisfactory attendance may not re-register for the next class cycle. These individuals must
    wait one full cycle before re-registering in the program.

     

    4. Program participants are required to attend all scheduled classes on time and stay until the end
    of class. No entries to class more than 15 minutes past start time.

     

    5. Program participants are required to turn on the video Camera and use legal name while accessing to the online class in order to follow up attendance. (Failure to comply - Student will be removed from the class.)

  • TEXTBOOK AND MATERIALS

    6. The assigned textbook is Citizenship Now! 3rd Edition. The textbook may be purchased for
    $40.00 from Hispanic Unity of Florida(HUF).

     

    7. Program participants must come prepared to class by bringing the following materials to every
    class session: assigned textbook,notebook and/or binder and writing utensil.

     

    ONGOING COMMUNICATION WITH STAFF


    8. Program participants are responsible for reporting naturalization milestones to the Pathways to
    Citizenship program. In order to track each client’s progress with the naturalization process, designated
    staff members will call clients periodically in order to obtain the following information:

    • Date fingerprinting was completed
    • Date of the naturalization interview
    • Result of the naturalization interview
    • Date of the naturalization ceremony
    • If the person did not pass the interview
    • Date of the next interview

  • CLIENT’S RIGHTS

    All clients shall enjoy all of their legally entitled rights, and in addition, can expect the following rights to be
    honored while receiving any service at Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc.: Access to all of the services we provide and/or referral to other appropriate services (based on individual need); To be treated with respect and served in a culturally appropriate and sensitive environment; To receive requested information/assistance/referral in a timely manner and be served in an environment free from all forms of harassment; To be given the opportunity to provide feedback to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors regarding the service they are receiving; Upon enrollment, to be able to freely choose to participate or cease to participate in any of the agency’s services, and to be aware of grievance procedures that may be utilized when needed.


    CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

    Hispanic Unity of Florida recognizes that any information obtained is of a confidential nature. Hispanic Unity of Florida and its employees agree to fully comply with preserving confidentiality and agree not to divulge or discuss confidential information for any purpose or in any matter not in conformity with the State of Florida or Federal law, except for the purpose of administrating this program.
    I do hereby release Hispanic Unity of Florida, its officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims or demands of any kind or nature that may accrue in my favor on account of my participation in the program. This includes any activity or event sponsored by Hispanic Unity during the program. The provisions of this release and hold harmless shall apply whether or not the claim or demand results in whole or in part from any negligent or contributory negligent act or omission on the part of Hispanic Unity, its officers, agents or employees, or any combination thereof. Nothing in this agreement shall be construed to affect the rights, privileges, and immunities of Hispanic Unity under the doctrine of “Sovereign Immunity” and as set forth in Section 768.28 statues.


    GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES

    If you feel that your services have been denied incorrectly or have not been provided fairly or reasonably, you may present your concerns, verbally and in writing, within three (3) business days following such action, to supervisory staff who will review the circumstances and render a decision within three (3) business days of receiving your complaint. If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may send a written request to the agency’s grievance committee chairperson, who will investigate and assign a hearing date for you to present your case before the grievance committee within three (3) business days from the date they receive your request. You will have a final decision within four (4) business days following your hearing. Forms and a copy of the complete appeals/grievance policy are available from any Hispanic Unity of Florida office. You have a right to seek legal recourse, through your own independent counsel if you believe that civil rights or confidentiality laws were violated in your case; however, you may request to resolve the issue through the agency’s appeal/grievance process.
