Ama Questionaires (Level of Toxins)
Undigested food turns into a thick, toxic sticky substance, called ama. Ama is the root cause of many diseases. The presence of ama in the system leads to fatigue, and a feeling of heaviness. It may induce consipation, indigestion, gases, diarrhea, bad breath, perverted taste, and mental confusion.
The tongue gets a thick coating and there may be generalized body aches and stiffness. Because of the critical importance of agni (digestive fire) in maintaining health, it is important to have a balanced diet. The toxins clog the cell membranes and disturb cellular intelligence, generating unhealthy cravings.
Generally, a balanced dosha without ama produces healthy cravings and disturbed doshas with ama create unhealthy cravings. Like attracts like. When we are out of balance, we crave the foods that keep us out of balance and vice versa. Unprocessed thoughts, feelings, and emotions are then stored within the intercellular space of the connective tissue, and that becomes the subconscious mind. This unprocessed material that stays within the connective tissue can be described as mental ama (toxins).
