  • INSTRUCTIONS:  All sections of the application must be completed, before submission. Incomplete applications WILL NOT  be considered.

    Current/Returning DPS students:

     Transcripts, Submitted Legacy Options application

    New to DPS:

    Transcripts from all prior schools  ,  Birth Certificate,  Immunization records,   Submitted Legacy Options applicaton,   Denver Public School Registration Form

    Application Process:

    • Complete this online application
    • Send Brenda Diosdado Luevano all the required documentation
    • Legacy Options High School will call you back for an interview
      • Ensure when you are scheduling your interview time, that BOTH the student and the LEGAL GUARDIAN are able to make the interview.
      • Please note that if the student and the Legal Guardian are not BOTH present at the scheduled interview day/time, the student's application will be denied for any further interview AND consideration for the current term. The student will have to re-apply for the next available term.

  • Mission Statement

    Students will meet academic challenges with honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to solve problems in a school climate that is safe and supportive of individual students.  It will be through a legacy of collaboration with our students, parents and staff that will foster a long term effect towards post-secondary college and career readiness.

    The vision of Legacy Options is that all students will attain the necessary skills needed to compete in a global market place, achieve their full potential, and become competent and positive contributing members of society.

    • Identify and pursue post-secondary options during high school  such as Concurrent Enrollment courses and CTE courses

  • Attendance and Tardies:

    • Being in every class - more content per class
    • Excused Absences - letter from the student’s doctor, absence occurring due to custody of a court or law enforcement authorities or for a court appearance,
    • Students-responsible for making up missed work upon their return.
    • Students who have left campus or an individual class without permission of school administration are considered unexcused. 
    • Continued unexcused absences may lead to further disciplinary action
    • Multiple absences (excused, unexcused or a combination of both) in a single class period during a single semester - danger of being truant. 
    • With Multiple absences, students and families may be required to meet with administration to develop a plan for lost instructional time.
    • Any student who is not in class when the teacher is getting ready to start is considered tardy.
    • A student absent without the consent of parents/guardians and the school administration is considered truant

  • Making up Missing Assignments and Exams:

    • Students are responsible for all class work missed due to any absence.   
    • Students who have been absent are responsible for the arrangement of make-up work with their teachers. 
    • Students have One Week  to make up missed assignments-(until the following Thurs)

  • Legacy Options Code of Conduct:

    • We will listen and follow teachers’ and staffs’ instructions without arguing at all times
    • We will communicate our needs respectfully using appropriate language
    • We will interact with each member (teachers, staff, students, families, visitors) of the Legacy Options High School community with respect
    • We will respect our school environment by keeping it clean and orderly even if it is not our trash
    • We are aware of and will follow all the policies and expectations detailed in the Student Handbook

    High School Graduation Requirements for Class of 2021 and Beyond

    1. Twenty-four (24) units of study

    Language Arts- (4 Units)
    Social Studies- (3 Units)
    Science- (3 Units)
    Mathematics- (4 Units)
    Physical Education, Dance, CityWide, Band, ROTC, DPS Athletics – (1 Unit)
    Fine Arts or CTE- (1 Unit)
    Electives – (8 Units)

    2. Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) – their plan for their future

    3. Competency demonstrations in English and Math, or career readiness through completion of one or more - Accuplacer, ASVAB, ACT, AP classes, CE courses, IB courses, SAT, Capstone Portfolio

  • Legacy Options Grading Policy:

    • Grades will be based on two categories:
      • Product -Academic performance that reflects evidence of learning of the standards and competencies
      • Process -The intentional academic behaviors that support the Essential Skills Competencies: entrepreneurial, personal, civic/interpersonal, and professional skills.
    • Trimester grades are final and are used to calculate student grade point averages
    • Grading Scale:
      • Traditional DPS secondary schools use an A, B, C, D and F grading system.
    • Legacy Options is on a Trimester Schedule
