The DSSC West Coast Technical Review, held twice a year, is an opportunity for center members, invited guests, and DSSC personnel to be brought up-to-date on current DSSC research progress through oral presentations and poster sessions that highlight the center's project areas.
DSSC Review Structure
In particular, we will report progress alternative HAMR NFT designs, including a segmented designs and the development of testing capability under high power illumination.; We will also give updates on h-BN grain boundary materials that enables small and tall FePt grains for HAMR media, micromagnetic modeling analysis on HAMR media design and recording analysis, and novel reader design.
Additionally, we will report on progress on chalcogenide and oxide selector and memory cell technologies and their application to compute in memory technology.
Due to the need for HAMR fundamentals, driving by recent progress in HAMR technology development, we will devote the first 90 minutes for a tutorial session on HAMR. The session will cover the basic recording principles, the NFT, media, and the metrology. We would encourage members of sponsor companies who want bone up on HAMR fundamentals to attend. Our regular review sessions will start at 11 AM after a break.
