As a STEPPING STONES CANINE FOSTER (SSCF) Volunteer you will be required to abide by the terms of a volunteer agreement. The agreement below details what SSCF will expect of you and what you can expect of SSCF.

If accepted as SSCF Volunteer, you signature below indicates that you have read, understand and agree to the following:

1. Abide by all SSCF’s policies and procedures.
2. Agree and understand that any dog placed in my home is a foster dog and I do not have the
   right to keep, relocate or place the animal(s) without SSCF’s written agreement.
3. Understand that puppies/adult placed in foster care can be carrying a disease that may still be developing – such as Parvo - or be undergoing other medical treatment.
4. At no time seek medical attention at your own vet on SSCF’s behalf and require
   reimbursement for fees. If your foster animal becomes ill or gets hurt, contact SSCF immediately.
5. SSCF covers routine medical expenses, but we must authorize all treatments and medications
   before they are administered. SSCF must also approve in advance the veterinarian caring for the animal. SSCF works with Pocatalico Animal Hospital in Sissonville, WV. Any animal needing to be seen by a vet must be seen there. Also, required medical care can usually be provided by SSCF, so call first.
6. Never turn over a foster to someone who claims it is his/her lost pet without irrefutable proof, and even then, the circumstances of the pet’s loss must be carefully evaluated before any action is taken! This person could be mistaken, or he/she could be deliberately trying to mislead you. The animal could have been removed from his/her former home for all kinds of reasons. The claimant could well have mistreated the animal. Immediately report such claims to SSCF, and we will investigate.
7. From the time you pick up puppies, please abide by “No Paws on the Ground”. Puppies are not fully vaccinated and are very vulnerable to common illnesses they can pickup walking outdoors. Many of these illnesses are FATAL. Please do not walk your puppies, take them to parks or sporting venues. If you have any questions please ask.
8. Hereby agree to release, indemnify and hold SSCF, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims, damages, and liability arising from or related to my activities as a SSCF Volunteer under this agreement or for any negligent act or omission by SSCF, its officers, directors, employees, and agents.
9. If under 18, this form must be signed by a legal guardian or parent
