About ISBNs and Imprints:
An ISBN is an International Standard Book Number and is needed for each edition of a book, including an audiobook. An ISBN is needed for every edition of a book. So a printed book, ebook, and audiobook have 3 ISBNs. You don’t hear about it going through ACX because Audible doesn’t have ISBNs, they have their own fancy Amazon numbers. ISBNs aren’t necessary for a few platforms, but are a must for international and library platforms. They indicate who the publisher is as well. If you buy your own ISBNs, then you can have yourself or company as the publisher! Getting one ISBN alone is pricey, but if you get them in bulk, it’s a pretty good deal. If you don’t want to buy your own, we can assign one for you, but Audiobooks Unleashed will then be listed as the publisher. We do have a $6.50 fee to assign an ISBN. If you plan on distributing a lot of audiobooks with us, we can work something out.
