Dear Colega,
This unprecedented moment requires unprecedented action. At Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), we are energized by the incredible response of our partner organizations - moving with great agility and compassion in support of our most impacted communities. HIP’s work is guided by our partner organizations’ ability to make critical real-time decisions on how to shift and focus on ways to provide relief and recovery for our communities.
Through this application process, the COVID-19 Rapid Response Migration Fund seeks to award a limited number of small grants to US 501(c)(3) or legally established organizations to develop protocols to prepare and respond to emergencies, increase in the migration flows, implemantation of migration policies, and similar situations, as well as to offset some of the unexpected costs incurred from disruptions or increase to operations and services as a result of it.
The following format is for organizations working primarily with migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in Central America, Mexico, and the U.S.
Funding priorities
Priority will be given to grassroots organizations with deep and trusted ties to the communities in which they operate. Criteria and priorities by region are detailed below.
We expect all partner organizations to offer support and services by:
- providing direct legal, health, social, and humanitarian services to migrant, asylum seeker and refugee communities, and/or
- advocating for protection of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees particularly at risk
- serving highly vulnerable groups such as Indigenous People, women and girls, LGBTQI and Afro-migrant communities.
- advance local reintegration of returned populations and their families,
- advance local community integration processes of migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees,
- if U.S. based, work with a transnational approach and in collaboration with other organizations in the region (Mexico and Central America) to reach populations and organizations south of the U.S. border.
