CEREC® by Sirona Dental Systems is the world's first system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations in one office visit. CEREC® is an advanced dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed cracked or chipped teeth. The CEREC® machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes. CEREC® restorations are made of compressed ceramics. It is for that reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a CEREC® restoration is that it is accomplished in one visit with no impression material and no uncomfortable temporary. The procedure for the placement and fabrication of the CEREC® restoration is very simple. Once the decay and'or removal of the old restoration is completed the tooth will be shaped optimally for the restoration. A light spray will be applied to the tooth that aids the digital camera to take its 3-D image. Once an acceptable image is taken the restoration will be fabricated in front of you in digital form. Once the design is completed the CEREC® will mill the restoration. The milling process takes approximately 15 minutes and once completely milled the restoration will be ad,usted polished and cemented into place.
