“A Farmers Market is predominately a fresh food market that operates regularly within a community, at a focal public location that provides a suitable environment for farmers and food producers to sell farm-origin and associated value-added processed food products directly to customers” Australian Farmers Market Association.
Stallholders and Produce
1. All stallholders must complete and lodge an application form prior to the market and agree and abide by the Market Terms and Conditions.
2. The application to trade must be renewed annually no later than 12 months after the individual stallholders’ commencement of trade or at the discretions of The Local Farmers Market. All produce/products that a stallholder wishes to sell at the market must be included in the application to trade.
3. The Local Farmers Market has the right to refuse any applications that in their opinion does not fit the best interests of the market.
4. If the number of applications exceeds the number of stalls available, priority will be given to those stallholders:
Who are currently trading at the market; and
Who have traded the previous twelve months; and
Whose produce best enables the Market to achieve its aims
5. A waiting list will be developed if necessary.
6. A stall is defined by 3m x 3m area; if more space is required you can apply for multiple stalls at an additional cost.
7. The Local Farmers Market reserves the right to change the size, shape and position of any site(s) as may be necessary to allow market stalls to fit better within the premises.
Community Stall
8. There will be a community stall available every market for local charities, organisations, sporting clubs, schools and local small businesses to help make them known in the community. Application forms will need to be lodged for these stalls as well and will be chosen at The Local Farmers Market’s discretion.
Cost
9. The cost per stall is as follows:
• $50 for food stalls – for example food trucks, coffee, fresh produce, etc.
• $35 for non-food, handmade and homemade handicraft stalls - for example handmade candles, art pieces, personalised products, recycled and repurposed products etc.
• $50 for resellers/retailers and network marketing/MLM/party plan stalls – for example Tupperware, Thermomix, Arbonne, etc

10. A 3m x 3m area defines a stall. If additional space is required, you must apply for multiple stalls. Additional 3m x 3m space will be charged on top of the original stall fee.
11. Stall fees are to be paid by bank transfer prior to the market day, unless other arrangements have been made.
12. NO POWER is available. All stalls need to be self-sufficient and all power cords and electrical appliances must be annually tagged and regularly maintained.
Arrival and Departure
13. The market will be open to the public from 8am to 12pm on a Sunday morning every week.
14. Stallholders may start setting up their stall from 6am and will be allocated times depending on where they are situated in the market. All cars movement must be finished the market area by 7:30am at the latest and must not commence before 12pm. The bollards to the market area will be put back in place at 7:45am and removed at 12pm.
15. Upon arrival at The Local Farmers Market, please look for one of the Market Staff who will direct you to the location of your stall, provide information on car parking and assist with any other matters.
16. Stallholders will be assigned a site for their stall. Stallholders are not permitted to change the location of their stall without permission from The Local Farmers Market. The Local Farmers Market reserves the right to change the location of the designated site.
17. The speed limit is strictly 5kph around the market area and hazard lights must be used when driving in the market area.
18. Stallholders must not:
Arrive late such that they are not set up prior to the starting time
Trade before 8am or after 12noon
Leave before the market has closed (unless it’s an emergency)
Cancellations
19. The Local Farmers Market reserves the right to cancel a market for reasons such as extreme weather, severe weather warnings and other. In such an event, best efforts will be made to contact stallholders as soon as a decision has been made.
20. Stallholders cancelling their attendance must notify The Local Farmers Market at least 24 hours prior to market day. A penalty of a one-week stall fee may be charged if the market is not notified within this time and in the event of any absence, and The Local Farmers Market reserves the right to cancel future bookings due to repeated absences. *Please note - penalty fees will not be charged if the stallholder is unwell per our COVID-19 policy.
Insurance
21. Stallholders must provide evidence of current public and product liability insurance ‘Certificate of Currency’ when applying for a site. The stallholder must forward their renewal ‘Certificate of Currency’ every year.
22. The Local Farmers Market site is covered by a current Public Liability Insurance policy.
General
23. Stallholders must remain at their stalls and are not to harass the public or other stallholders.
24. As children will be in attendance, no products, goods or behaviour that could be considered offensive may be displayed.
25. Stallholders are encouraged to use recyclable/bio-packing (ie. Paper bags)
26. The Local Farmers Market reserves the right to refuse any stallholder applicants. Stallholder bookings may be cancelled at the organiser's discretion
27. The market will not operate on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter Sunday, Anzac Day or New Year’s Day.
28. Stallholders are responsible for providing their own equipment such as marquee (gazebo), tables, chairs and display materials.
29. As rubbish bins are limited, stallholders are asked to take their rubbish away with them. Please ensure that all items and rubbish is removed, and your stall site and surrounding area is left clean and tidy.
30. All market stalls are to be constructed from secure structures within the stall boundaries. Stalls and any associated signs, weather protection devices or other equipment must be securely fastened/tied down in order to prevent accidental damage, collapse or injury, including during adverse weather conditions and in accordance with any relevant manufacturer’s instructions.
31. No stall is to exceed 3m x 3m (unless you have applied for additional space and this has been approved by The Local Farmers Market)
32. Stallholders are responsible for ensuring that there are no health or safety risks associated with their stalls.
33. The stallholder may only sell products that are listed on the approved Application to Trade form unless a separate form has been submitted and approved by The Local Farmers Market.
34. When providing approval, The Local Farmers Market will give consideration to produce currently being sold by other stallholders.
Who may sell?
35. Only the primary applicant, family members or employees will be allowed to sell. In certain circumstances, a representative may be allowed to sell at The Local Farmers Market’s discretion.
36. All stallholders that sell the produce they grow, or hand-make their products will get priority over anyone that is re-selling produce or products that they do not grow or produce themselves.
Quality of Produce and Products
37. Stallholders must sell produce and products to the highest standard possible. Stallholders in breach of this will be required to remove their product immediately. The Local Farmers Market has the right to determine whether produce/product is unmarketable, poor quality or not fresh.
Presentation
38. All stallholders are expected to be clean, neat and suitably dressed and deal with the public in a courteous manner. Stalls are to be clean, tidy, well maintained and well signed with producers’ name and/or business name.
39. All food and produce must be presented according to Health & Safety regulations.
40. All gazebos must always be safely secured with appropriate weights. This will be routinely checked by The Local Farmers Market staff and stallholders may be told to pack down and will not be allowed to trade if their gazebo is not secure.
Labelling and Signage
41. All produce sold as Certified Organic must be certified by the relevant accrediting body and be labelled “Certified Organic”
42. All prices, per kilo or per item, must be clearly visible.
43. Each stallholder should display a sign showing their name every day they attend a market.
44. Stallholders must keep their signs and displays to their stall site and keep pathways clear for patrons unless otherwise approved.
Health & Safety
45. As the site is a non-smoking area, you must leave the area if you wish to smoke.
46. All food stallholders must trade in accordance with the Health Department of Western Australia’s food handling regulations, and other relevant local health laws.
47. Value-added products, such as baked or cooked items, must be prepared in a facility approved by the relevant Health Authority.
48. It is the responsibility of stallholders to ensure their stall is safe at all times.
49. Stallholders must keep their signs and displays to their stall site and keep pathways clear for shoppers.
First Aid and Fire Extinguisher
50. A First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher will be located at the Market Information Stall.
Injury
51. Any injury regardless how minor must be reported to The Local Farmers Market who will assist you with First aid and record details of the injury. A copy should be kept as it provides details you may require at a later date.
