Acceptable Use of AI (for delegates)
Learners/Delegates may use AI tools to support their learning and enhance productivity, provided the use is transparent, ethical, and does not compromise academic integrity.
Acceptable uses include:
- Research Assistance: Using AI to gather information, summarise articles, or explore concepts.
- Writing Support: Using AI for grammar correction, spelling checks, and improving clarity of expression.Idea Generation: Using AI to brainstorm topics, structure outlines, or suggest approaches to assignments.
- Coding Help: Using AI to understand programming concepts or troubleshoot code (where applicable).
- Note: All AI-assisted work must be critically evaluated and appropriately referenced if the AI tool contributes significantly to the content.
Unacceptable Use of AI (for delegates)
The following uses of AI are considered unacceptable and may constitute academic misconduct:
- Plagiarism via AI: Submitting AI-generated content as your own without proper attribution.
- Automated Assignment Completion: Using AI to write entire essays, reports, or assessments without meaningful human input.
- Misrepresentation: Claiming AI-generated work as original thought or personal analysis.
- Circumventing Learning Objectives: Using AI to bypass the learning process or assessment criteria.
Plagiarism and Consequences
Plagiarism includes presenting someone else's work, including that of an AI tool, as your own. This applies whether the content is copied verbatim or paraphrased without acknowledgment.
Consequences of AI-Related Plagiarism
- Formal Warning: For minor or first-time infractions.
- Resubmission Requirement: The delegate may be asked to redo the work with proper referencing.
- Disqualification: Removal from the course or assessment.
- Reporting to Awarding Body: Where applicable, misconduct may be reported to the relevant Awarding Organisation.
- If the qualification has been claimed from the relevant Awarding Organisation but has been subject to EQA (External Quality Assurance) and has been proved to be plagiarism your qualification will be revoked and invalid.
