Birmingham Water requires most businesses, as well as residential customers who have an in-ground irrigation system, to install, maintain, and annually test a backflow preventer.
These devices protect our public water supply from contamination by backflow.
We will review your account information and contact you via mail if a backflow preventer is required. The cost of installing and annual testing of your backflow preventer will be your responsibility.
Please note that failure to respond or comply with our backflow requirements will result in disconnection of your water service.
