• Zelma Rogers Dunn Community Service Scholarship

    When the apostle Peter assured Jesus three times that he loved Him, Jesus responded three times, “Feed my sheep.” Mrs. Zelma Dunn lived this commandment.

    Her good works in the community and her church included the following:

    • Working in Vacation Bible School.
    • Organizing and teaching Sunday school.
    • Visiting shut-ins.
    • Providing food for families during illness, loss of a loved one, the birth of a baby, etc.
    • Sharing her famous banana bread with any and every one.
    • Calling church members to invite them back to church.
    • Serving on the Southern Baptist Women's Association.
  • Mrs. Dunn displayed a kind, positive disposition to all who came in contact with her. She led in a spiritual manner by giving encouragement and support. She had a gift for assisting people in establishing connections with others and maintaining these valued relationships. Mrs. Dunn never meet a stranger and had the gift to make everyone feel at ease. She always followed up with new and old friends with calls, cards, and visits. She made banana bread by the dozen to share with those who were not feeling well. Encouraging fellowship among old friends and new alike. She was always quick to share a word of encouragement or praise. Mrs. Dunn was generous with her time, concern and love. She truly fed the Lord’s sheep, nurturing them body and soul.
