Guidelines and protocol for public masses in the Parish of San Juan Diego. (Last revision: May 27, 2020)
The church, restrooms, and doors are disinfected by a professional company once a week. Also, the church is thoroughly cleaned before and after each Mass.
During Mass, the doors of the church are open so that you do not have to use your hands to open or close them.
At this time, entering the sacristy is reserved only for liturgical ministers.
All missals and hymnals have been put away. You can bring your missal. However, take it with you at the end of Mass. Keep in mind that the church will be disinfected after each Mass, and all items left behind will be discarded.
Please check your temperature and the temperature of all members of your family before coming to church. If any of you have a fever or the flu, stay home.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before Mass begins as it will take longer to implement the security protocol.
Face covers / masks are required in and around the church for everyone except children under the age of two.
There will be hand sanitizer for everyone, before and after Mass.
All the pews have been appropriately marked with yellow tape to ensure more than 6 feet distance. Please do not remove the yellow tape.
Please do not hold hands during the Our Father.
Please do not shake hands during the greeting of peace; instead, you can bow your head towards others as a sign of peace.
To receive the Body of Christ, you will be instructed to form a single line. Stand up and wait at the mark, you will see on the floor. Do not move forward until the person in front of you moves from one position to the next.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that you please receive the Body of Christ in your hands. The Lord said, "For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink" (John 6:55). Every day, we take our food and drink with and in our hands.
After the final blessing, wait a moment and follow the usher's instructions for a more coordinated and orderly departure. The usher will ask people in the back pews to exit first.
Upon leaving the church, do not stop to socialize, but immediately walk to your vehicle and continue to your next destination.
There will be a couple of baskets to deposit your donations at the end of the Mass. You can also continue to drop your envelopes at the parish office, or continue to use online contributions.
During the COVIDF-19 pandemic, all weekend Masses, weddings, and quinceañeras will take place at Saint Christopher church.
Our weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Mass in English. 9:30 a.m. Mass in Spanish and Noon Mass in English.
More information and updates will be communicated in the days and weeks ahead!
