Effective January 1st, 2023 - All families must provide paperwork every time they "shop" verifying that the child is in foster care. Example: Letter or email from your caseworker, the child's emergency medical card, adoptive or placement papers. Please do not plan to shop without the correct paperwork.*

Effective March 1st, 2023 - Any child currently in foster care in the State of Michigan is eligibile to "shop" at the Michigan Foster Care Closet up to four times a year. In the case of children who are adpoted, families may shop up to 12 months post-finalization of adoption. Youth in Transition or those youth aging out of care may shop up to 12 months after aging out or foster care case closure.*
