Every year, the Bound For Peace (BFP) program travels to Colombia to promote intellectual and cultural exchange among youth through educational workshops (talleres) on topics such as education, health and sustainability. However, given the COVID-19 pandemic, international travel in the coming months is a no-go. In response, we have moved our workshops online.
In June, we hosted workshops on personal wellness for over 530 students from Montería, Colombia--for students as young as 1st grade, and as old as college students training to become English teachers. Given the positive feedback we received, we have decided to host another round of workshops from July 27th-August 7th.
Our second round of workshops will focus on the theme of cultural perceptions. Each workshop will run for 1 hour, and will have an emphasis on English comprehension relevant to the theme. We are looking to recruit more volunteers to help facilitate these sessions.
A short training session will be required before the workshops in order to review the pre-developed curriculum. We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 workshops in order to serve as a workshop facilitator.
We hope you can contribute to our series for these deserving students and their hardworking teachers by leading a workshop session! It is a great opportunity to support the educational growth of youth during a particularly trying time, and to assist the efforts of the teachers who continue to show up for their students every day.
