What is Ocean Tactics ?

OCEAN TACTICS - Passage Weather Tactics, Departure Planning, and Passage Management Strategies for Offshore and Planning and Overwatch for Coastal Passages. This is a paid weather service, discounted for C&OC Intl. members.

Ocean Tactics weather service is available for any vessel, power or sail, mono or multi up to 25m in length.

Ocean Passages

Passage Tactics - This allows us to get to know you and your vessel and is a necessary part of all Ocean Tactics engagements. During the lead up to the passage we’ll discus Comfort Levels for Wind and Wave, Vessel Characteristics and Conditions to expect on passage.

Passage Tactics also includes discussion briefings via WhatsApp just prior to departure to give you a full understanding of what to expect and detail factors that may influence your tactics on passage.

Once a suitable passage departure date has been agreed we will run a full weather routing for the passage including Wave, Current, CAPE and Gust forecasts with the latest information prior to departure.

Departure Planning - We work with you to pick the best weather window for any specified passage based on your personal perameters and that of the vessel as per the answers to the questions below.

Passage Management - Possibly the most important service for a safe and comfortable passage. This service makes sure you put the vessel in the right place to best take advantage of the weather thats coming as the passage proceeds. Updates are sent via email only.

Coastal Passages and Cruising a Region

Depending on the passage, Getting to know you and your boat is still an important part of the service. Departure planning is a major part of the success of any cruise, whither it's a long coastal passage or cruising slowly through an Arcipeligo or cruising region.

One Fee* covers all for our Offshore Weather Service as detailed above $250NZD for C&OC members ($300NZD non member) for a single passage.

For Coastal and Region Cruising let us taylor a service for you.

Making more than one passage in any 12 month period? Then our annual subsciption may benefit your needs.Only available to current C&OC members, $495NZD/annun**.

OverWatch - For those of you that prefer to do your own routing we also offer an OverWatch service. Often on an ocean passage your focused on whats immediately around you or if your cruising a region weather may not be on your mind all the time. OverWatch looks at the big picture and warns you of a weather event or other natural disaster that may affect you. At the price of a cup of Coffee a day it's cheap Peace of Mind. Five NZ Dollars a day, flexible duration.

PredictWind Tracking is a condition of service.

Conditions of Service

Weather is fickle, we supply forecasts on the basis of the information available at the time and is supplied on an all care no responsibility basis for the contracted skipper and his/her vessel..
The Skipper of the vessel is at all times the person resposible for the safety and welfare of the vessel and crew.
It is the skippers sole responsibility to decide to either leave or continue with the passage.
Fair Use - In each subscribed year, 3 Offshore Passages or 4 Coastal Passages or a combination of any 4. Passage Length max 3000nm. At the discretion of Ocean Tactics, where a passage is halted on route there may be a departure planning surcharge of $50NZD. Plus for passages over 3000nm or during Cyclone or Hurricane season there may be an additional surcharge. The subscription Service requires a current C&OC Intl. membership.
Ocean Tactics Departure Planning Weather Routing and Passage Tactics are copyright to 3Sixty Marine Ltd. and should not be shared with other vessels.
The legal entity in this regard is 3Sixty Marine Ltd a New Zealand registered company.
