    Ensure pages 2 and 3 are completed before departure from the Marae and Koha is given to the Marae Representative/s. An initial lot of Dishwashing Liquid and Toilet Paper will be provided, you will need to replenish what you use. We have tablecloths that are an extra charge to clean, you will need to provide your own hand wash, soap, rubbish bags and any other cleaning product you may need to use. The marae is clean and we expect it in the same condition as you arrived. Toilets (left clean and ladies sanitary bins emptied), living areas, kitchen, stove and oven (Scrubbed) and to be thoroughly cleaned If pohiri/mahi whakatau is required, as part of our kawa and tikanga on our Marae, a time will need to be negotiated. If other buildings are required, please advise. No smoking or drugs are permitted on Marae complex A request is to be made if alcohol is required on premises All rubbish is to be taken away Any items, crockery taken off the marae premises is treated as THEFT. BOND - $50 There is a 14 day stand down period to ensure no excessive use of power and Marae is left

  • RULES OF RANGIURU

  • RANGIURU - Dining/Kitchen rules to observe

    - There is to be no running inside - Never sit on the tables or benches as this is for food. Seats are provided - Karakia (Grace) is usually said before each meal (Karakia is on wall of Wharekai) - When finished eating, you should take your plate to the server where they be scraped and ready for washing - Pajamas and nightwear are for sleeping in and should not be worn into the dining room. - Cleaning equipment is kept in the kitchen and mop room. A mop, bucket and broom are provided, please do not mix Wharekai equipment with Wharepaku (toilet) resources

    At the conclusion of your stay, you will need to ensure that the following are completed prior to your departure

    Tables must be wiped, chairs and tables stacked into storeroom Floors swept and mopped in kitchen, dining hall, toilets, and toilet hallway Left over kai (food) must be removed by those that book the marae. Please provide your own containers

    Rubbish bins must be left clean

    Benches must be wiped down, cleaned and nothing left on top Ovens/Stovetops/Chillers/Freezers must be empty and thoroughly

    cleaned out Microwave must be cleaned and switched off

    Chillers must be wiped out at mopped Everything wiped down

    If signs are put up, then they must be removed after the event

  • Ablution block including the showers, wash basins, toilet bowls and mirrors must be wiped clean. The floors should also be mopped, bins emptied. Please do not use kitchen mops or brooms in the ablution

  • Wharenui - Meeting House rules

    - Footwear must not be worn in the Wharenui

    - Food or drink must not be taken into or consumed in the wharenui, unless medication and water only - Clothing/towels must not be hung on the carvings, walls, marae fence, windowsills, ramp rails in or around the Wharenui area - You are responsible for ensuring your belongings are secure - Do not sit on pillows or play on mattresses

    At the conclusion of your visit, you will need to ensure that the following are completed prior to your departure

    Stack all mattresses evenly in Mattress Garage, Tangihana

  • Seating arrangement in the Wharenui must be left as per

  • The Whakaue Marae facility is available for students and the wider community. If you have never been on to our Marae before then it is usual practice to go through a Pohiri/Mihi

    Whakaue Marae is located at 721 Maketu Road, Maketu 3189, Bay of Plenty.

    KOHA (donation of money): Is not a set charge or a payment of costs. Please note that Koha is an optional part of the pohiri process and is not included in the invoice, but it will be noted. A receipt can be emailed after the event if required. Please advise.

    Maori Groups are fully conversant with this traditional custom of gift giving, koha, or awhina. The modern koha given by the manuhiri is usually money, which they collect from amongst themselves and place on the Marae during the pohiri or hand to the Marae Rep.

    Please also be advised that the hireage of the Marae does not include catering and does not include coffee, tea, milo, sugar, milk, flour, or toilet paper. This is not the responsibility of

    the Marae. Please do not ask as a refusal often offends.

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE WHAKAUE MEDICAL EMERGENCY

    Is it safe for you to help the victim?

    Is he or she unconscious? Breathing? Bleeding?

    DO NOT MOVE VICTIM - unless it is required to keep them safe

    Request AMBULANCE service Provide Location of Victim (BOP, Maketu, 721 Maketu Road, Maketu 3189)

    Describe the medical condition of victim

    Send someone out the drive to meet the First Response vehicle and/or Ambulance

    A - Airways B - Breathing c - Circulation and bleeding

    If so, turn him or her to the recovery position

    If the emergency is the result of a serious accident: First, contact appropriate Emergency Services

    Ask for Ambulance, Fire Services or Police immediately Secure scene and ensure your safety Assembly points are at back of Marae on tennis court and over the fence at the reserve to the right had side of marae driveway

    When the emergency is over, please report to Marae Rep who will complete an emergency/evacuation report. If any follow up is required, please contact Marae Rep.
